Apologies in advance for barging in on the 800 thread with a non-800 question.
Dear Shashi,
I have been going through your various posts and you seem to be expert when it comes to Maruti Suzuki.
I have a couple of queries for my 2007 Alto LXi with which i would like your kind assistance. To give you a rough idea, they involve a rear demister, rear wash-wipe and fog lamps (all OEM).
Would you be able kind enough to help?
Regards,
Anoop

Small DIY of about 4 hrs on Saturday to keep my M- 800 DX 1998 Shiny::::::what you need is Waxpool (250gms) and 3M Shampoo ( 500 Ml) from Amazon costing Rs 345 and Rs 397 Respectively. Also some old clothe pieces are required. ::::::::Apply the wax slowly selecting small patches and use rubbing action, and clean it with another cloth and finally with Microfiber cloth to make it shiny. ::::This will remove all the carbon deposits and even tar sticking at the bottom too.::::::It is better to use Waxpool polish once in 3 months. 250gms of Waxpool lasts for 2 application.::::::::Finally clean with 3M shampoo and you will see how the car body is protected, one can see the water slipping and dripping from the surfaces:::::::when you get this done at 3M Service Shop, it costs you Rs 1500.::::::Attaching few photos

If I understand what you have mentioned, while shifting 3rd and 4th gear, your Engine will be off automatically, Right?

I think there could be 2 reasons, either the Gear oil is less or the clutch problem. what is the odo reading? normally some clutch fail after 45000 - 50000 kms in M- 800.

However there are many experts here and can give you more ideas. Once your problem is taken care of by you, just give your feed back to others.

Good luck to you.

Hello all,
This is Baalu from tamilnadu.
I bought a Maruti 800 recently, a 2008 variant. Ice blue colored.
It was run approx. 40,000 kms. I bought it for 1,35,000 INR.
Nice car.

I had to employ 2 new tyres, one service at maruti showroom. Add another 10,000 INR to the buy, lol.

So far the car has been good.
Awesome to drive, especially in the cities. Got a good pick-up.
I get a mileage of approx. 18 Kilometres (somewhere around 17.5) per litre on highways 'without A/C' and 15 Kilometres per litre on City 'with A/C'.
I would like to know if this is a decent mileage. Because I heard people telling they get a mileage of 22 kilometres in national highways without A/C.

Also kindly let me know, what is the capacity of Maruti 800s fuel tank. I read it is something like 28 litres. Kindly confirm on this.

One thing that I don't like about is " THE CAR DOESN'T GOT A GOOD A/C SYSTEM". Simply said, the air conditioning system in maruti 800, I find it useless. Its better off to drive around without A/C. Not just in my 800, in any 800 I found the air conditioning system to be useless. I don't find any difference with the air condition turned ON, lol. I understand its a small car with 796 cc engine.

I need to replace the rusted silencer, which I was told would cost around 8000-9000 INR by the maruti service. I Haven't done it yet. The problem is I get a Hizzing sound only when I start the car and shift it in 2nd gear. Once the car is at ideal speed at highways or even city, the noise is not there. It happens only when I start the car and after I move a little. Not a big deal for me as of now.

Recently I set up a CENTRAL LOCKING system.
Brand : Autocop Piranha DX
Cost : 3,800 INR (including installation)
Features : The door locks automatically as soon as the Engine starts up and opens up automatically as the Engine stops. All doors can be operated from the driver side door manually as well (before I can't do this). A reverse siren when gear in reverse position. And some kind of safety siren sound (when someone tries to steal your car, something like that). Two remote keys. Plus a 3 years warranty.

I got it done from a local car accessories shop.

Awaiting valuable feedback from you guys on A/C, mileage.

Thanks in advance.

congratulations Baaluvm! regards your query use the vehicle for at least a thousand kms of driving before drawing conclusions on mileage. If you have received a well taken care of car, please do change all the fluids once so that you have a base point from which you can check mileage. Also condition of tires and suspension do affect mileage. The AC refrigerant may need topping up; but still do not expect it to be a bone chiller like in larger sedans !
M800 are fantastic machines[;)]drive safe ,drive right

Oh you got a good deal. As rightly mentioned by driveright, some tips to maintain the car is very important.
Better get your AC serviced and refill the gas. I recently got my AC started after 8-9yrs and used M- 49 gas instead of going for new kit and 134a gas and the result is good. You can get some feed back on this in my post,
Wish you good luck Baalu.
Regards.
