Mahindra to launch SsangYong Korando in 2016

The country’s largest utility vehicle manufacturer, plans to launch a compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) — Korando C — by the end of FY16 to regain its domestic market share.


To regain its slump in the UV market it closes the product gap of not having a competent CUV ( The Quanto is a dud) by bringing in the Korando.

With Maruti and Hyundai's Compact SUV coming in 2015, Mahindra is considering this so that there will not be an erosion in its UV market share.

M&M intends to take the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route for the Korando C, which will help it price the product aggressively with high content of localization.

Rebrand it as mahindra and give it a funky name and it will do wonders. Amazing power and specs it boasts of. Will certainly be huge seller for M&M.

If they had, it would have eaten in to the Scorpio and XUV5oo market. We need to wait and watch how they are going to position this car, if they are launching it here. I don't this this is going to be a direct competitor to the Duster etc.

M&M might as well put in their rather reliable mhawk engine in to this car. This car being lighter than the XUV, will thus be a more fun drive, apart from the obvious cost saving.
