@ cooldhaya: i agree with everything written in your review except the engine noise. you are comparing a 20L fortuner's engine noise to your 8L verna! fortuner is a premium SUV & noise should be considerably less, which is not the case.

So after seeing all this we have decided almost its going to be the Fortuner! The main thing we look forward to now is hassle free ownership. Only the color remains to seen , dad wants silver i want dark metallic grey! We are planning to book it next month and we may get the car in January!
Advance congratulations and best wishes, cooldhaya, on your decision in favour of Fortuner. No vehicle is 100% perfect. If it satisifes most of requirements, then it is the winner-candidatre, IMO!

@ Sriharsha and AMG Yes the endeavour rejected because of leaf springs and the 3.0L engine does not come with MT. AT is fun to drive but maintenance could become very costly and Ford is known for high maintenance costs , so not willing to take a risk again!

@ Zinam Yeah i love the X-trail but the OTR price of X-Trail goes upto Rs.30Lakhs and my dad does not want to spend above 25Lakh now. And moreover Nissan's network is poor and if something goes wrong with the car , it should be repaired soon enough. Else it will be difficult for dad's business.

@ Raj Yes i agree with your point but still i somehow felt the engine was not as noisy as i expected. After cranking i hardly heard any noise under the bonnet , i infact touched the car to check whether the engine was running![thumbsup] And there was no apparent vibrations in the gear lever , but the gear lever was not nice to hold.

@ Ravi Thank you sir. Yes the Fortuner satisfies most of my dad's requirements and its like his dream car now , so i don want to mess up with it. I actually wanted a sedan like Jetta or Laura but as my dad is a civil engineer( sir you are also a civil engineer right?) the road conditions are not very smooth and a sedan might scrape the bottom sometimes. So i don want to risk it! Again we use the car to transport some materials like Cement bags , white cement bags , centering sheets and other construction materials if its very urgent. All these can be transported only in an SUV. And so its the fortuner!

If you have this much work to do your dad's decision on a SUV is the perfect choice good luck and safe riding.A sedan wont fit for you at any time .

I hope you dont overload the car buddy. sometimes, i do!!! [evil]

talking about versatility, just today i had gone with mom to order granite slabs, some renovation happening at my place. since they had it ready in stock, we said we would take it right now.

but how? fold both the jump seats of the scorpio, move the sub to one corner, fold the rear bench backrest, double fold it to create an " Tata ACE" rivaling flat floor! In goes 4 big granite slabs & there was space for many more! Mom says, "why do we arrange a tempo everytime if we can do this?" my reaction "Mom, this is our car, not a pick up truck!"

In short, go for a SUV.

Ha ha we have transported several materials like these in Safari! These are the added advantages of owning an SUV. Yes definitely its going to be another SUV for sure this time.

I find Fortuner to be a bit costly but a good performer , looks awesome and above all is reliable! I don find anything wrong or faulty with Fortuner except that its pricey.

Captiva 4X4 is available only in Auto.

Manual Captiva is 4X2(or is it 2X4[confused])

The only options left for you are endy and pajero.

4X4 endy = auto only
4X2 endy = manual only [frustration]
Pajero, great off road, great reliability, horrible paint scheme(new double colour one), bad interiors
@AMG: Pajero is a good offroader, No doubt about it
But not good for highway drives.
As even a small pothole gives you an impression of going in bad road.

He he.!!
I would have never agreed for such transportation.
Indeed i would have arranged a Tata ACE.
How did you manage sub and all those ICE stuff's, And these granite's roll here and there.
So strict no to such ideas from my side.

LOL, thats fine mukesh. unless & until its about overloading or dirtying the car, i dont create such a big fuss. you cant just hire a tata ace for 4 granite pieces, especially when you have a SUV.

it was granite slabs & quite heavy ones, so they dint roll here & there.

the new ICE luckily is very practical. the older rear speakers in the boot are shifted to the middle row door now, so that space in the boot is available. the basstube used to take a lot space, the new GZ sub is very very compact, so now lots of space in the car!!!
