I am not from chennai so dont have much idea.

Another thing i found is the back doors are not provided with speaker cables only front door are lined up with speaker cable.we need to re-route the cable to back if we install speakers in rear door.

Pls see to this if u really need rear door speakers.

Strict NO for rear door speakers, it will spoil the music quality very badly. Installing the rear speakers on parcel tray would be good for the speakers and also good for AC effect as the parcel tray stop the AC going into the boot

yes I agree with you my friend.Soon going to install JBL GTO949 in my rear parcel tray so today checked whether rear door carries the speaker cable so that easy trim it to backside but i need to layout cable from HU to parcel tray finally.

I don't prefer door speakers it give jarring feel in high volumes.

That is a very interesting point/observation indeed.

Although i was looking forward to polish my DIY skills and have some satisfaction of saving money too.

Please post what you purchased, if possible some picture too... Like to know which JBL speaker model you opt for the door.

It is very hard to stuck in traffic for hours without any entertainment, Don't know much about the traffic condition about Dehradun though.

None till now. Didnt get time to visit the accessories shop again.But i am still not sure whether to install the kenwood HU although the price is too tempting.As for speakers if I go in for this headunit i will buy the cheapest one possible and will make the record for the most VFM ICE on the forum.

Dehradun has crazy traffic and I am using my phone as my ICE during traffic jams.

you can re route the cable but the connector to head unit doesn't support the rear pin speaker connectivity so you need to change the connector if possible r slice the cable to connect the rear speaker.

Guy's i need quick review and help frnd's small confusion in buying JBL oval speaker's

which one is good and better you feel GTO 949 or GTO 959?

I'm totally confused with these two type but no review so far in any website

Pls sugest me good one whether to go for GTO 949 or 959.

I need to purchase before it get sold out.

Update at 6500 kms / 7.5 months : second service done


Wanting to update my ownership reviews from quite some time but I suffer from a disease called extreme lazyness

Anyways The car is at 6250 kms.

Second service was done at 4900kms. Nothing major was done in the free service and it involves just basic checkup .My father took her for servicing and the next day i notice that MASS guys had left a lot of scratches on the hood.Was able to remove some by rubbing compound.But was saddened to see how these people treat our beloved cars.

Strangely after the second service the car has become more responsive.Maybe the engine has opened up after 5000kms.
Now some pics with details.

1 Got rear parking sensors installed : smartkey make,silver colour matches perfectly,displays the distance and a speaker on the C pillar speaks it out,costs Rs 1800/-
No wiring was stripped/cut , something called locks were used and the installation was very neat.Was there the whole time to check on the installer as I have had very bad experiences with accessories dealers before.




















2 Got Roots windtone 90 horn installed for Rs 800 ( i think i was charged more for this )
The horns were a direct fit after replacing the OEM horns.The sockets of roots horns are the same as OEM horns.
This is unlike my honda city in which wiring was stripped.
I find the horns OK . I feel bosch symphony installed in my honda are better.Roots seem to be less loud and have a more deep and pleasing sound.The bosch are shriller ,loud and do a better job of clearing traffic.Apart from the details both sound like polo/vento horns.

Guys I havnt fixed a relay with these horns.Is it required ? Read somewhere that these are 5 ampere horns ( which is true ) and anything more than 4 ampere should be fixed with a relay.
And one more thing everywhere i have read that Roots windtone 90 are better than bosch/minda etc.I dont feel that way.Is there some problem with the installation ( like overtightening/undertightening of clamps etc )

3 Bangs and dings which are part and parcel of our traffic








Have used compaint pen kit to cover up the scratches.Guys highly recommended.Wish they have the colour for my other car.

4 This cracked bumper came with the car on delivery.Father didnt notice it.Complained to maruti after some time but no reply yet.


A petrol sticker is a must for ritz/swift.These cars are associated with DDiS engines now.So as a precaution



ICE still pending.

General views about the car after 7 months: both positive and negative

1 Good engine : if driven enthusiastically you will never feel lack of power.The engine and gearbox is smoother after 5000km.
2 Good Ground clearance.
3 Paint quality not up to the mark.Minor rub completely removes the paint to sheetmetal.
4 barebones.Lots of accessories have to be added.Grande i10 / nissan micra active and honda brio offer much more features
5 Good comfy seats.Much better than brio.
6 Quality of plastics in interiors is average : honda and hyundai hatches much better

Another question, Do Ritz VXI comes with auto lock features on the door ? Like As soon as the car starts moving after certain speeds All 4 Door get locked automatically ?

@ Arijitb.. Maruthi will program the speed at which all the 4 doors get locked automatically. Its done for my ritzy at 15 kmph. I saw the same info in user manual too, not sure if all maruthi cars have the feature.

No, auto lock feature is not factory installed.I think only Zxi & Zdi has these auto lock function with 5 doors in VXI and LXi variant you need to manually lock r you have to choose auto central locking kit which as auto lock feature go for Autocop.

Has of now my car has OEM fitted Central locking system which auto locks in 10 seconds when car is started.

Yes, i got the Nippon Auto lock (as a freebie ) installed from the dealership as it was not factory fitted.
Only 'Z' versions in Ritz get a factory fitted central locking system.

Do it yourself is what I prefer.
Most of the technicians don’t know what they are doing.
You will finally end up with completely un tuned system. Are you will be left with blown up system. Careful.

Hi Petroholic, congrats on your new ritz. Regarding features, Ritz Zxi comes loaded with most of the features one may need except reverse parking sensor. Reverse parking sensors can be added after market as you have done
