September:

Front end started making taktak noise. Was sure that it was wheel bearing. Took it to ASC. SA insisted on changing brake rotor as it was bend. I have been using it so since 1 year of ownership as bite was good and the bend gave an ABS kick in like feel [evil]. Still decided to change it. Made them change both side bearing, they always do only the affected side.

Wheel Bearing 93306252XG00 ₹ 80.00x2
Brake Disc Rotor 21CF582U0000 ₹ 795.00
Front Wheel Bearing Replacement ₹ 70.00
Disc Plate Replacement ₹ 150.00

Total Bill - ₹ 1205.00

Rear sprocket looks same as stock plus the Rolon markings and specs.

2015-12-11 22-53-32.JPG

2015-12-11 22-54-25.JPG

Drive Sprocket comes in different finish than stock.

2015-12-11 22-55-02.JPG

X-Ring chain got removable master link unlike the O-ring.

2015-12-11 22-55-22.JPG

Difference between O and X is the just the rubber gasket in each chain link. It seals grease between each link. X-ring has an X shaped cross section and the depression can hold more lube, that's what they claim.

hey deville,

need some info on what was the primer that you used and the matt black paint?

Mine has some paint peeled off from the air directors below the tank, can those be repainted as they are fibre parts.

and yeah I am planning to do the swingarm overhaul too this weekend. so may be will ping you if I am stuck somewhere.

Regards,
Kinshuk

Nippon/Bosny aerosol primer and paint. Each costs around 200-250 a can.

Plastic can be repainted. Sometimes need plastic primer, which is just a solvent liquid, you have to apply it 3-4 hours before painting.

Hope I'll be free while that ping [;)]

Yamalube Sporty Premium 10W40. Full Synthetic. Value for money at 450 bucks. Better than my fav Motul. Builds revs quickly and zero vibes. I have to look at tach to see I am at 6k rpm, otherwise would have been a bit rougher range after passing 4.5k rpm. Smooth shifts. Gotta see how long it will last. Even a change at 3k km is nearly 100 bucks cheaper than Motul 5100 SS (My fav). Made specifically for R3 and R15.

(R15 grade used to be 15W50 and all of a sudden then switched to 10w40.

Same with FZ. FZ get a new mineral oil from Yamalube (Optima Prime), which is also 10W40. FZ originally came with 20W40, which they later changed to 20W50 and now 10W40

Just change oil filter, nothing else.

So far, it's better than my beloved Motul 5100. Still too early to comment, did only some 750 km on it so far.

5100 is a great oil. I used it major part. Performance is good and can squeeze out 3.5k km with ease.

Castrol one was crap. It made my smooth and silent engine harsh and lots of vibes. Only oil I changed prematurely.

Hey deville, congrats for keeping your ride top notch for 6 years! I'm not much of a DIY-er, but your thread inspires lazy bums like me too [:)].

I too own an FZ for the past 3 years. I plan for some minor modifications or upgrades now as I finally got some free time. It would be great if you can give some suggestions regarding that.

1. Tyres - My stock tyres are running at 24k kms. Rear tyre badly needs a replacement as it is highly unstable in wet surfaces now. Which one do you suggest? I think the front tyres will be good enough for a couple of thousand kms more.

2. Mirrors - Is that P220 NS mirrors in yours a direct fit on FZ?

I'm also thinking about blackening the green parts(mine is an FZ-S) to get the FZ look. Got to refresh the looks a bit as it's been a while.
