I hope they come up with some innovative features when it comes to interiors and safety. Swift has been a very comfy car to ride, no matter which seat you are on! Would love to see some more photos.

Rear looks like i20 to me.
Well now that you have pointed that out, I too think so. Especially the rear wheel haunch and the tail-lamp. Very i20-ish!

As far as features are concerned, I don't think there will be too many ground-breaking options. As always, ABS and airbags will be available on the top-end variant and the base variant will have AC and Power Steering. We most probably won't be getting the features seen on the European variants (cost-cutting). Don't know about the comfort part (I generally never was comfortable in the Swift) but you can bet your life this will be an absolute riot to drive with that 94 PS engine! And don't worry, the car has just been unveiled, so you will soon be flooded with many more detailed pictures [;)]

To me the exterior changes are quite few, and as Vibhor said it looks more like a facelift. Anyways to me its quite disappointing to see no major change to design.

Revealed - 2011 Suzuki Swift

Albeit looking similar to the outgoing model, the third-generation Suzuki Swift is significantly better than its predecessor.

With increase in length (+90mm) with a wheelbase (+50mm), people won’t grumble at the back seat anymore. The bodyshell has been stiffened using high strength steel, yet it weighs lesser. The safety ratings are also expected to get better on the new Swift which comes with a 1.2-liter petrol engine producing 93bhp and emitting 17% lesser carbon dioxide than the heavier and less powerful 1.3-liter engine its predecessor is fitted with.

I can go on and on about the new Swift, but the press release after the jump will do it better than me. Click through to read it.

Press Release – Suzuki Unveils new Swift in Esztergom, Hungary

Suzuki is pleased to announce the first images and preliminary information of the new, third generation Suzuki Swift which goes on sale in the UK in the Autumn of 2010.

Suzuki held the world premiere line off ceremony for mass production of the new car at its Magyar Suzuki Corporation production facility at Esztergom, in Hungary.

The all-new Suzuki Swift is positioned as Suzuki’s latest world strategic model and makes strong developments in styling, impact safety, driving performance, handling, improved fuel consumption and significantly lower emissions.

Extensive use of higher strength steel makes the new bodyshell lighter and stiffer than before as well as offering refinement in underbody design. This latest body design has also helped improve impact safety for pedestrians as well as occupants.

Increased track and larger diameter wheels with lower profile tyres allow for even better handling than the already highly acclaimed outgoing Suzuki Swift that first went on sale in 2005.

The interior design now has a more dynamic feel, featuring black as its keynote colour with accents of silver throughout the car.

New Swift has grown slightly in length (+90mm) with a 50mm increase in wheelbase.

For the powertrain; a new 1.2-litre petrol engine incorporating Dual VVT (Variable intake and exhaust valve timing) is utilised which produces 94PS at 6,000rpm, slightly more than the outgoing 1.3-litre unit. Torque is also improved to 118Nm at 4,800rpm.

Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is now 56.5mpg for the manual transmission model, an improvement of 7.8mpg over the previous 1.3-litre unit.

Emissions are much lower as well; the new 1.2-litre engine with manual transmission produces just 116g/km on the combined cycle; representing a 24g/km or 17 per cent improvement over the 1.3. An optional automatic transmission will be available for the petrol engine from launch.

A 1.3-litre diesel engine will also become available and planned for UK introduction in early 2011; this engine emits 109g/km (down from 119g/km) and has an impressive combined fuel consumption of 67.3mpg, an improvement on an already highly credible 62.8mpg from the outgoing Suzuki Swift DDiS. This Euro 5 engine has more precise engine management than before with reduced levels of mechanical friction for smoother running and flexibility.

A further selection of images will be available later this month and details on full UK specification and pricing will be announced in the summer of 2010.

Tech specs are mouth watering, but where goes the mileage ?

94PS out of 1.2 is really risky for indian market!!

Yeah but being a typical Maruti i don think it will be really low or bad!

The only thing i don like in Swift is the rear leg room and now it has been addressed too! Will the AT be launched in India too?

The SX4 ,in India, doesn't have that dual vvt engine so how the low priced swift do & i think maruti will not cross that 4m length criteria & this 2011 model fits it to so the body remains same[clap]
about engine: petrol is already BS4 K-series engine so no change
Diesel : they will upgrade it to BS4 Ritz DDiS engine thats all
(though Ritz DDiS lack that turbo punch of BS3 DDiS[frustration])
this is totally my view
pls share yours

Here are the first official pictures of the all-new 2011 MS Swift. The car certainly looks a lot fresher and sharper than the current-gen Swift. According to my knowledge, this car is likely to carryover the same 1.2 K-Series engine from the current Swift and also the very same 1.3 DDiS diesel. The interiors though are the talking point here. Brilliant quality, great design and probably fine ergonomics will boost the new-Swift's sales ten-fold. Can this be the first car to have it all? Be a family car, have enough space for everyone, be loaded with features and still remain fun to drive at a bargain price? We'll have to wait and see.

If the Swift ZXI is going to come with these features and interiors and with maybe only a marginal price hike then the success story is going to continue for a long way.
