Gypsy: Can you tell me what advantage 0W40 has over the 5W40 grade oil. I remembe ryou mentioning it somewhere. But forgot whetehr it was HR or Tornado thread.
Synthetic oil grades vary a lot & it has too many specification attached to it so I am no expert in this field but I read that 0W40 offers cold cranking better protection to engine specially in winters.

I live in delhi where morning temp are 4-8°C, in same conditions 5W40 will work too but will be less lubricated due to colder temp oil will be thicker (less flow). In winter I often travel to mountains where I meet sub zero temp conditions for a cold start, This winters I was starting from Rishikesh at 5am the temp was 1°C, I allowed 3 times just the heater plug (without starting) then finally cranked the engine & let the engine run for 10 mins only then started the journey back to delhi.

Remember every cold start puts a lot of strain on engine & that's the time when most metal parts rub as oil is not hot (thicker) hence less lubrication available for first few mins once the oil is hot then it becomes almost equal in protection.

This video shows oil flow (kept at -50C) of 0w20 to 0w40,

Then on 28th April travelled to Chennai. Did not fill fuel. The needle was in half between 1/4 th line and 1/2 line. This time started evening at 16:30 hrs. Reached Chennai at night 22:15 hours and AC was on for 40 % of time. The MID showed 24.3 kmpl . From Kolar to till Nangali it was fully raining. Was pretty easy till Mulbagal with the road having dividers. But from Mulbagal for 15 kms rain was very heavy and also roads donot have the dividers. I put wipers in full speed mode. Still the visibility was less due to heavy rain. Was fearing that vehicles from opposite side due to low visibility wiould come into this lane. Thank god nothing happened. Then rain subsided. Was slowed due to rain . But still reached Chennai in 5:45 hrs. Havent filled after that . So actual FE is not calculated. But the MID display gave 24.3 kmpl

Travelled from Chennai to Bangalore yesterday. Started morning 6:30. Dropped relatives in Airport for sendoff. Then started form airport at 10:30. There for heavy traffic at Porur for a sunday morning. Reached maduravoyal at 11:15 am started to Bangalore. Reached Bangalore at 5 PM. The MID showed 19.2 kmpl. Was using AC for 70% time. Normally I used to get 24 - 25 without AC. This time AC was on, driving in city traffic, some aggressive driving touching 140 kmph sometimes in empty stretch in the Mulbagal - Bangalore stretch has reduced the FE to 19 kmpl.

Re: Ownership Experience of Manza Aura Quadrajet - 7700 Kms Completed

Hello Manza owners: Peter , gypsy, nozzlering . Pls can you guys comment on how do we reset the AVG FE reading in the MID. Do we have control on it.

As per manual, when we longpress the set button for 3 secs , the AVG FE gets reset. But it doesnot work. After Tankfull refilling, I drove for 65 kms in Bangalore city traffic. I got 13 as AVG FE in MID display. Later made a trip to chennai. Before driving I long press the set button. But AVG FE did not reset . It was in same value 13. As i was driving thru Highway , the FE slowly increased. When reached Chennai after 327 kms, I got the AVG FE reading as 21.2 with 30 % Ac usage.

Anyone have idea or have tried how to reset this??

For city I was getting 13 kmpl for 65 kms.
After 327 kms highway driving (city +HW =392 kms ) I got FE = 21.2 kmpl

After some calculation found out that i got a FE of ~ 24 kmpl for the Highway driving. Love this car for Highway FE. But for city driving it give low FE. I understand that because of Manza weight in start stop driving the FE will obviously be low. but the weight would not matter much in Highway cruising.

My car has now completed 8500 kms in 10 months. For highway cruising it a good car. It has 90 BHP VGT multijet fiat engine. Feels stable and planted at 130 kmph. Have good confidence while cruising at such speeds. Only thing I felt was lot of tyre noise. May be more damping and would help

On the basis of my observation

DIS gets input from the odometer and tripmeters. So if your instrument console is displaying odometer, DIS will show total average FE. If the console is displaying Trip 1, DIS will display avg FE for Trip 1, and same goes for Trip 2 display. So Trip1 and Trip 2 AVG FE can be reset. Overall FE can be reset only when ODO will be reset.

Thanks for the reply. Later I checked the Manual of Manza. Below is the details given.

If IC show Odometer or Trip A, the DIS shows AVG FE of Trip A

If IC show Trip B, then the DIS shows AVG FE of Trip B.

There is no way we could see the Overall FE of the Odometer reading. It can't can be reset.

If we reset trip A, Trip B or press SET button for 3 secs for the respective trip, the corresponding AVG FE gets reset. Thats what I get from reading the manual. All this time I did not go through line by line in the manual.

When in doubt, check the manual. Most likely you will find the answer. Else, google. That has been my motto for all the gadgets.[:D]

Re: Ownership Experience of Manza Aura Quadrajet - 7700 Kms Completed

My car now completed 9850 kms. Will be due for the 3rd Free service in this month if completed 10K or next month will be 1 year completion. Whichever come first. So what do i expect in the 3rd Service. What is the checklist i need to verify if the TASS have done proper work.

Manual suggest that we use Synthetic oil of 5W40 grade. Can I change to mineral oil. Will this void warranty.

If warranty will be void , i have to go for synthetic oil. So which brand should I go . I plan to go for AMC if the the oil and filter change works out costlier.

Re: Ownership Experience of Manza Aura Quadrajet - 7700 Kms Completed

I fixed appointment with KHT motors and went there for the below problems.

They fixed the suspension noise by changing the ARB bush.
The boot noise they told have fixed. He says its called spot noise and observed in all Manza. Though i suspect this because no one have reported that I think.
Changed rubber beading in the left side both windows.

Surprising thing was the SA himself volunteered to water wash . I told if its charged i dont want. He told he will do free of cost. When I went to take delivery car was washed clean. But it rained after that and again car was muddy when came back to house.
