Hey Superuser,

My Brio's due for its 2nd free service nxt month. I dont think anything should be charged for the service as it's termed "FREE". Do contact Honda directly if you feel you are being taken for a ride.
I called Honda directly they told me the 'free services' are decided by the dealer and it varies from dealer to dealer.
Since usually the service provided is also by the same dealers Service Center.

So this should be one more addition to ask & clear the confusion while booking/negotiating the discounts of the Car.

Finally got a call from the service center & they told me they replaced the engine oil. They charged me 1240/-

So basically the 2nd Service is not a Free Service like the 1st.
Its only labor free Service and they don't inform you before hand that would be chargeable. Then whats the point by dealers saying like 2 Services are Free? Free is completely misquoted

Rs 1240 for an engile oil change? That's strange. My father got his Brio's second (free!) done last month and he was charged Rs. 3100 for engine oil(synthetic). I wonder how one dealer is filling up mineral oil (as in your case) and how the other is using synthetic oil in the same car?

Sorry to hear about the dent.

If the damage is small, its better to shell out the repair charges from the pocket itself. IMO go to HASS, and get a quotation of repair works, if they are huge, better to claim insurance. Do post a pic of the damage.
Hi Akash,
I will post a pic soon.
But since its a small dent is it advisable to go and get it fixed immediately. I mean is there any rule which says "within so many days of getting dent, you need to contact them".
I mean, i feel as long as i keep it outside, i cannot avoid somebody brushing it at at night (God forbid, just praying it doesn't happen again).
Can i get that dent showed to them at later point of time once iam settled in a parking space ?

The car cover given by dealers just sucks.
Its just very thin foil which gets teared by slightest nailing. I would prefer purchasing one from outside.
Personnelly i feel the accessories (except the ones which voids warranty) if brought from outside will come at a much cheaper and better quality.
EW (extented warranty) is good one and for rest bargain for cash discounts.
Even the sunfilm which dealer has given me for free was so bad that while removing it had lot of gum left over (which means not put up properly)
The product which comes from factory is good, but not at the dealers which just has the Honda label on it as per my views.

Yes right, gear lock is good or rear parking sensors, though those are costly than body cover or you can ask him that you will share the difference amount if he complains. Other things are like rubber mats, side door protectors, bumper protectors. Anti-Rust is also good, but check which anti rust coating is applying and if it has really been applied.

In my opinion rear parking sensors are very important even though people say rear view of this car is good. It can just save us sometimes from timely errors.
Teflon coating is the biggest joke.
They apply some kind of wax polish in name of teflon, which even you can buy from any auto shops (good brands like F1). There is no product called teflon coat and neither i guess the polish/coat has anything to do with teflon material.
Only thing is you need to have some patience for applying it yourself, to see its uniformly applied. There are lots of videos in you tube which shows how to apply wax polish.

Chennai - 40
Was so amazed to see so many Fans of Brio at one place that immediately registered and posted this message :)

My daily ride is a Safari. Right in front of my office, Chennai Metro Rail has setup their drilling station and thus the entire front entrance of the building is blocked. Only a small pathway to enter and exit the building has been created and that pathway is too small for my Safari :( and thus for the past 3 months, I have been using my family's trusty 8 year old Wagon R.

The Metro guys seem to be in no hurry to leave and it means that I require a smaller call for quite some time in the future for my office commute. The wagon R had no specific problems but it shows age and the ride was very bumpy which gets un comfortable at times. So I decided to bid adieu to the Wagon R and switch to another small car.

My requirements were simple
1)Budget: Sub 5 lakhs - this means that I most probably wouldn't get a (quality) diesel car, except maybe the beat. But there is already a beat in the house.
2) Power Windows
3) Power Mirrors: Crackpots in the office parking keep fouling with the mirror adjustments always. So I needed it
4) Decent FE
5) Steering control for Music (nice to have)

I created a spreadsheet to compare all the cars within the 5 lakh budget and their variants and features and guess which car fit perfectly in? The Brio Of course ;)

To be honest, I am a big hater of the Brio's styling and not a Honda fan boy either. But the sheer VFM of the car made me research on it quite a bit and I learned that it has impressed and pleased almost everybody who drove it / own it. So I went for a TD and was pretty impressed with the build quality, fit & finish, the engine and everything else. I am 6ft 3in and weigh a little over 100k and I could fit in comfortably and also did not end up shouldering the co-passenger which usually happens when I get into a small car. So eventually, I decided that with so many positives the eyesore styling can be easily ignored (and also I guess the styling slowly grows up into you and you get used to it).

And thus I bit the bullet and booked a SMT - Urban Titanium. Got free insurance + 12.5k discount + 5k accessories. Hopefully the car should be delivered immediately after Diwali. Will keep the thread updated when I get my hands on the car.

Few queries
1) How much mileage does the card return in the city with AC on (Sorry if this has been answered already)
2) How much does the front and rear bumper protectors cost. I see sudeep.roy has got it on his car
3) The double DIN OE music system, does it have an Aux or Sub woofer out so that I can connect an AMP and Sub woofer?

Any responses, much appreciated. And welcome me to the club ;)

And BTW (off topic), the Wagon-R fetched 1.4 lakhs which I felt is huge. Almost 40% of the initial car costs after 8 years is not bad at all. No wonder India is so obsessed with Maruti. But IMHO, Maruti's are extremely over priced. Not even the lower end LXI's of Ritz and Swift could fit into my budget and LXi-s do not even 1/2 the features of Brio at the price point.

To Sudeep and other Proud Honda Brio owners ....

I am in your august company and love by Brio SMT as much as you do. However wanted to check whether you are facing any issues with the gear shifts ? I think there are some problems with the clutch-gear system as the 1st gear does not engage smoothly and I need to push hard to engage. Observe this to happen most when the car is setlled for a long while (overnight for example). Also, what kinda mileage are you guys getting in the city ?
