Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Friends
The recommended Tyre pressure for maruti 800 is 27 psi as shown in door jam and owner s manual..but in some Tyre shops they fill 28 psi and in some shops from 30 to 32 psi.Confused which one to follow.and what are the correct gear shifting speeds,

It depends on what kind of roads you drive and even climate.

Better fill 28 psi. I usually fill 30 psi..

Vyshak that's the evap box if I am not mistaken. No harm getting those two open ends connected. The pipe needed is cheap.

Harish, the air pressure needs a lot of trial and error. You need to find a figure that words well with your car,the amount of passengers you are carrying and the type of tires you have. That being said, I use 28psi of nitrogen all around in my 145/80 R12 Bridgestone Er60 tires when there are 2-3 passengers on board. If the car is fully loaded with passengers and baggage I tend to go with 30/32psi nitrogen all around.

The tire pressure depends on a lot of factors, condition of your suspension, age of the springs, age of the tires, type of tires etc.I cannot recommend anything, you will have to find the best tire pressure for your car by trial and error.

I have experimented with as low as 24psi of nitrogen.I use nitrogen as it does not expand like air once it gets hot.I use tubeless tires. If you are using tubeless tires, then you can switch to nitrogen all round. They charge Rs20 per tires here.Try 30 psi at first, if you find the car too bouncy then reduce the pressure by 2psi.

It is a trial and error thing to find the best tire pressure for your setup.

Do not lower the tyre pressure much more from the recommended one, it will increase the wear and tear of the tie rod and the steering box.
The tire will worn out more because of the more friction due to less air, and also will affect the steering comfort while steering.

Re: Maruti 800: Technical Issues and Solutions

Most fog lamps need a 100w bulb to be effective. For this reason, you need to buy a fog lamp with a metal body and glass lens. Then you need a wiring kit just like you did for the head lamp.

The 100w bulbs will strain the battery and alternator if they are used in conjunction with the headlights, AC, stereo etc.The direct swap replacements are too hard to find in the second hand market and cost too much new.If you are lucky you can try to find a 50 amp alternator from the 5 speed.Else you will need to make some brackets and fit a Wagon-R or Swift alternator.

You can also get the Zen dynamo (50amps), it is a direct fit. TVS lucas brand will be the lowest priced ones. However the ultimate solution is to get the swift one - with the swift alternator you can add fog lamps, woofer, ICE, lights etc etc..

If your requirement is not much then go for the Zen dynamo.

Thank You bros. My requirements are not much just a basic music player with 2 speakers. Maybe will upgrade to 90/100 head lamps. if this solves the purpose of better lighting, will not get the fog lamps.
One query though, If I upgrade to 90/100 headlamps, will the stock alternator/battery be able to take the load?

Also, how to access to change the parking lamps?
Thanks

Stock dynamo is 30 or 35amps only, it will start to give problems within few days from the day you install the high power headlamps. You can buy a new TVS lucas 40amps dynamo (specify that you need it for a m800) & you can install it easily
Pros:
Good enough for a normal Maruti 800 car with these accesories
100/90bulbs, basic ICE, simple horns, no crazy Lightings etc

Cons:
Cant support woofers, Amplifiers, extra fog lamps etc

Cost: about - 3500/- to 4000/-

Best brands: TVS LUCAS / DENSO (Both are OEM suppliers too). The dynamo can last over 10years if installed new.

Harish:
The best & easiest way to warm up the engine is to do this, since yours is a MPFi car
1. Start the car without pressing throttle pedal
2. Let the car idle in neutral for about 30secs atleast
3. Start driving the car at low speed for a few hundred meters & then drive the way you usually do.
4. Do not practice the method of "raising engine RPM" before switching off the car.
