Hurray 1st DIY
I was bored looking at my stock zen estilo and was thinking of an attempt to make it look better.I was not thinking of making radical changes to the stock as i can't imagine how the end product might look (poor imagination skills you see).I am not good at photoshop so i tried a bit and had got a rough idea how it might end up.So I got a spare grill,a saw and got to the job
The Stock Grill
The DIY tools i have used, nothing special.
I just got Bosny Matt Black and Bosny Chrome spray paint.
DIY stuff :- Sanding paper,Filer,M-seal,Blades/cutters,Pliers.
I forgot to click the work in progress while cutting the grill. The left side of the grill was the hardest. You can see in the 1st picture on the left of the insignia(logo) it is completely sealed with plastic and the extreme left has some gaps.
Result after cutting the whole thing(unneeded part of the grill)
Then i went on to sand the rough edges making it smooth with sand paper.I used a 150 no sandpaper. These are Pics after sanding the rough edges
To fill cracks or surfaces where i had accidently cut an extra chunk i used M-seal.Then sand the extra m-seal and make it smooth(don't use M-seal unnecessairly its a pain to sand)
Next step coat the grill with Matt Black and Mesh by Chrome
The Grill
The Mesh
Next part is to Stick/Attach the mesh to the grill.I used M-seal because it becomes really hard.
I cut the grill accordingly and stuck it with M-seal be sure to keep the mesh and M-seal away from screw points for a hassle free fitting.
Finished Mesh Grill
The Final Coat of Paint
Ready Mesh
To get it installed on the car.I went to a local garage and got the bumper removed and i installed the grill with the help of a mechanic.I was so excited to get it fixed i forgot to take the Digicam.
Now its installed on the car and here are the end results
My First DIY thread ever hope you guys like it
I prefer a decent looking car but if someone can come up with real cool PS mods on the grill i'm willing to try it
