I am planning to buy an used car,This is my first car, the budget is around 3.5 Lakhs. I have my eye on these cars.

  1. Honda city - 2006 - 2007
  2. Ford Fiesta 2006 - 2008
  3. Swift vxi 2006 - 2008

What car can I get for these budget, what model and how many kilometers on odo meter.

I would like to hear from other members about what car would be a wise decision (suggest any other as well which is not in above list)

I have seen a 2004 honda city, run 60K kilometers for 3.5 lakhs and a Ford fiesta zxi durasport 70K kilometers run, 2006 model, second owner for 3.5 lakhs as well.

Welcome aboard to The Automotive India. Please elaborate about the requirements (Running, Purpose, Body Style, Priorities etc.) so that we can advice a correct car. Also don't look in for high-mileage cars. You can easily find some genuine low-run sedans under this much budget (Approx. 30K - 40K+ Kms).

@Sramanandi:
I don't know about anything else, but what I know is that I am in search for a 2003 Honda City V-tec with the same amount of cash in hand,if you find one, then tell me.Or buy i=it for you,the best thing on wheels it is.

Rest go for a Swift VXi,you will get a nearly new car for the amount as petro cars are now a days having a bad resale value.

And if you want performance, then go for Fiesta 1.6 or City V-tec or an old Swift with 1.3 MPFI engine.

@350z - I am not sure about body style (I like Sedan though), The car will run less then 350 KM/Month, And mainly will be used for weekend family trips.

@TSIVipul - Do you think the Fiesta I mentioned above is worth considering ?

Which year Swift/City/Fiesta models can I get for this budget ?

Then you should consider sedan as sedan will give you more space and also boot space to carry stuff for trips.

I have been visiting dealers since last few days, but most of them are asking 4.5 lakhs for 2007 - 2007 Honda City ZX with around 50K kilometers and first owner.

I have attached the pics of The ford fiest that I have mentioned above.
Please have a look.

Just a question here. If you have a budget of 3.5L why don't you try for a new car like say Alto or even the EON? You will be relaxed from any maintenance perpective for minimum of 5 yrs ahead? Just give a thought to this as well.

The price may vary depending upon factors such as variant / mileage etc.

- Maruti Swift VXi: 2008 - 2009
- Honda City GXi: 2005
- Ford Fiesta SXi: 2006 - 2007

Here are the pics of the Ford fiesta (And btw that guy isn't me in these pics ;)
Looks well-kept but don't simply make a decsion based on appearance. Make sure to thoroughly inspect the mechanical.

Valid point. But I think he's inclined towards bigger cars. Alto and Eon might not be as much comfortable for long weekend family trips.
