Volvo S60 Debuts To Rival C-Class and 3 Series

Volvo Auto has decided to launch their all new luxury saloon S60 in India on March 10, 2011. The car will provide a head-on competition to Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. After S80, this is going to be another attempt from Volvo to target the luxury class audience and we wish them best of the luck. The S60 will be available along with 3.0 liter T6 heart that produces 304bhp of power and 446Nm of torque, and 5-cylinder 2.4 liter 205bhp D5 Diesel mill. And as a Volvo, Safety will be no where compromised. Let's now wait for the final word on pricing.

had read the same news few months back in Overdrive about this car's planned India launch and Volvo getting serious about Indian market potential.

The car sure looks great and futuristic but I doubt how it will fare amongst the German trio (Benz, Beemer & Audi).

Yes it is top notch in Safety and performance is promising but I somehow doubt not only this car but all the cars in and around price range of 20 to 28 lakhs will feel the heat, thanks to BMW X1.

Let us wait and see how the market reacts to this Volvo!

OMG! i should say that this is one of the best looking car from Volvo till date . As expected from Volvo safety features would be top notch with build quality as solid as rock!

Volvo was losing game in India just because of its simple & dated looks!

This time its going to be tough for its CKD rivals.

If S60 is priced something around 25 Lakhs, then it is going to get some decent market share.

Also Volvo needs greater improvement in ASS which is very limited even in Tier 1 cities.

Am amazed to see those safety features , Volvo surely makes some of the most safest cars on road! Looks good , good performer , has got good features , FE is also good , pricing is also good ,only thing which worries me is the dealership network!

Soon that will not be an issue anymore. Volvo is consistently working to widen their dealership and after sales service base. They are going to open up five new dealership, i.e. in Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur and Ahmedabad, which will make total of 12 Dealerships across India. Volvo still has a long way to go though.
