Be prepared for a chance to own a Volkswagen Passat in this IPL Season. German Auto Giant, Volkswagen has announced to put the Passat luxury saloon on auction during the IPL tournament, in order to donate WWF (World Wildlife Fund). Starting from April 25th, 2011, the auction will take place online for total ten days through official website of IPL and E-Bay for transaction. The highest bidder stands a chance to win Cashmere Gold Passat Highline with autographs of team-captains on bonnet, along with an IPL Bat. Who's in? [thumbswink]

I personally don like this initiative. Who would want a premium car like Passat with autographs on the bonnet and a free bat!!!


But good that the amount is going to be donated finally.

I am now wondering how much would be the base price! If its lesser than the actual price of the car then it can end up profitable for the buyer but i don think that will happen.

well I find this very good initiative because final amount will be donated and hope bid amount will start somewhere close to car price but highest bid will definitely go in BMW price ..not because its passat but because it has sign of famous cricketers!! [:)]

I find this initiative of VW a wolf in the skin of sheep, on one hand they wanna show about their care for WWF but there actual motive just looks like promoting the Brand. Nevertheless again a unique PR from VW just like that "Talking AD".

A bit OT: but let us suppose this car's bonnet(with signatures) gets damaged in an accident, then how's VW gonna provide replacement for that?

Seems such an initiative is first of it's kind in India. IMO it's good for a die hard cricket lover.

I don’t think that we should expect an apt replacement with signature of team captains again. [;)]

Volkswagen, especially, is taking too much advantage of on-going Cricket fever. Recently they introduced a Vento IPL Edition too.

The bidding takes place on E-Bay itself. However, You have to deposit a Bidding Token amount first. This is the link: DLF IPL Passat

Just what i have expected.
Please take a look at the on-road prices of the original one (I dont want my car to have pen writings on my expensive car's bonnet)
The prices are of Mumbai and its from car wale.
