Acura MDX SUVs recalled to fix rear lights

Acura is recalling nearly 153,000 MDX SUVs from the 2014-2020 model years because their taillights, interior lights, rear position lights, and license plate lights might not work. This is the second time some of these vehicles have been recalled.

The problem is due to a water leak that can trip a fuse. In addition to rear lighting, some interior lights may stop working, too. If the rear lights don’t work, the vehicle may not be visible at night, which could increase the risk of a crash.

To fix the problem, dealerships will install a new fuse harness free of charge. They may also replace some lights and repair a seal if necessary. Acura found that a previous recall didn’t address the problem, so vehicles that were recalled in 2019 will need another fix.

The automaker says there have been no crashes or injuries related to this issue.

Vehicles recalled: 2014-2020 Acura MDX SUVs.

The problem: If moisture enters the taillight lid assemblies, it could trip a fuse, making certain lights stop working. If this happens, the vehicle will be less visible at night, which could increase the risk of a crash.

The fix: Acura dealerships will install a fuse harness free of charge. They may also replace the tailgate lid lights and repair the body dust sealer.

Hyundai recalls a handful of 2025 Palisade SUVs due to fire risk

Hyundai is recalling a handful of 2025 Palisade models because of a possible fire risk. The issue stems from a faulty electronic oil pump that can short-circuit and potentially cause a fire. The recall only affects a small portion of the mid-size three-row SUV's total population (620, to be exact).

The Palisades that are involved were built in Korea and sold in the United States. According to the recall report that Hyundai submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on May 6, 2025, the problematic oil pump had improper hermetic sealing due to damaged tooling. As a result, this can let moisture get inside and cause the aforementioned short-circuit, thus increasing the risk of a fire.

Notably, Hyundai says that anyone who owns an affected vehicle can continue driving it until the issue is fixed. However, the automaker is advising that owners park their Palisades outdoors and away from buildings.

Hyundai says it will notify owners by mail, and they'll be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the faulty oil pump. This will be covered under warranty, so it won't cost anyone a penny. For anyone who has already paid to have the issue fixed, Hyundai says it will reimburse them.

Toyota Tundra Backup Lights recall affects 489,000 Trucks

A Toyota Tundra backup lights failure recall involves about 489,000 trucks in the U.S. and Canada. The recall affects 2022-2025 Toyota Tundra and Toyota Tundra Hybrid trucks equipped with backup lights that can fail due to moisture that can enter both reverse lights.

Nearly 46,000 of the Tundra trucks are recalled in Canada. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not released details about the Toyota Tundra backup lights recall, but Toyota truck owners should watch for recall notices in July 2025.

To fix the reverse light failures, Toyota dealers will replace both backup light assemblies. The Tundra backup light wiring harnesses will also be repaired if the wiring harness connectors have corrosion.

Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid owners with questions about the backup lights recall should call 800-331-4331.

Ford recalling 1.08 million vehicles for backup camera failures

The Ford Motor Company can't seem to catch a break when it comes to recalls in recent months — and the latest one involves more than 1 million vehicles from across Dearborn's model lineup.

The recall is focused on a persistent failure of Ford's backup camera system, according to official recall documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Specifically, Ford claims a software error may cause the rear view camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse ... which is obviously a big problem when the system is federally mandated. The automaker's filing says 100% of these units are liable to fail.

A plethora of Ford's lineup is included in the recall, which affects 1,075,299 vehicles. 2021–2024 model year F-150 pickup trucks account for the majority of the recall, but 2021–2024 Bronco and Edge and 2023–2024 Escape, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600 Super Duty units are also included in strong numbers. Ford's Expedition from the 2022–2024 model years joins the recall alongside 2022–2025 Transit units, 2021–2023 Mustang Mach-E models, and 2024 Rangers and Mustangs. A host of Lincoln models are being recalled as well, with the 2021–2023 Nautilus, 2022–2024 Navigator, and 2023–2024 Corsair joining the party.

Ford first found out about this fault in January 2025, when a slew of its 2021-2023 models began to arrive at dealerships with frozen rear-view cameras. By April, the SYNC infotainment engineering team was able to reproduce the issue, which prompted them to review service records to identify similar fault patterns. The recall was then initiated on May 9, 2025. Ford says it is aware of one allegation of a minor crash due to this issue that resulted in property damage.

Ford recalls 29,501 F-150 Lightnings due to loose suspension part

The F-150 Lightning is the latest Ford model to be involved in a recall. The automaker is recalling nearly 30K copies of its electric pickup truck due to an improperly installed suspension component that could cause the driver to lose partial steering control, which obviously increases the likelihood of crashing.

The recall includes 2024 and 2025 Lightnings. The issue itself stems from a ball-joint nut on the front upper control arms that wasn't tightened to spec, according to documents that Ford filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). If that nut comes loose or goes missing, it could cause the control arm to separate from the steering knuckle, causing the aforementioned loss of control.

Ford says that drivers may feel a vibration or hear a clunk or rattling if they have an affected vehicle. They will also be notified by mail and told to bring their Lightning to a dealership for inspection. Ford says a technician will either replace the nut if the trucks pass inspection or replace the nut and the steering knuckle if the trucks fail inspection

Ford recalls 492K Explorers over B-Pillar Trim that might fly off

Ford issued a recall for 492,145 vehicles with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) because of an issue that may cause the B-pillar trim to fly off while driving. According to NHTSA documents, the recall covers certain Explorers from the 2016 to 2017 model years.

Recall documents show that Ford's team reviewed plant records to determine the production timeline. The affected models entered production in June 2015, with improvements made to the production line in April 2017.

According to the NHTSA documents, the issue may stem from a foam ring added to the back of the B-pillar during production. Increased outward pressure from the foam ring, combined with an inconsistent use of hand rollers during installation, means the B-pillar trim could detach while driving, potentially causing a hazard for other drivers. The documents also explain that owners may be able to see the trim separating from the top of the front doors when entering or exiting the vehicle, and/or hear wind noise rattling while driving.

According to NHTSA, Ford is still working on developing a remedy for the issue. Dealer notifications took place in late May, with Ford planning to send interim owner notification letters between June 9 and June 13. Once a remedy has been developed, Ford will contact affected owners by mail and instruct them to bring their SUV to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have it fixed for free. As of May 2025, the automaker is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the recall.

Cadillac and Lincoln recalling 70,000+ SUVs for screens going blank

41,376 vehicles from the 2023 and 2024 model years are impacted as they’re equipped with a 33-inch curved display that can go blank while being driven. This poses a safety risk as it could disable the instrument cluster, rearview camera, and other federally mandated safety features.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says GM opened an investigation in March after the government inquired into customer complaints alleging display malfunctions. This identified 1,209 vehicles which reportedly had issues with their screens going blank.

Looking into the data, the company found the “vast majority of these incidents occurred in 2023-2024 model year vehicles equipped with video display control modules” that were not updated to the latest software. While the automaker wasn’t aware of any injuries or accidents related to the issue, they decided to conduct a recall.

Since this is a software issue, the fix is pretty straight forward as it can be addressed through an over-the-air update. Customers can also take their vehicle to the dealership to have it updated by a technician.

Mazda recalls 12K Miatas for Traction-Control light that might not work

Sideways shenanigans might go unsupervised in newer Mazda Miatas due to an issue with their dynamic stability control (a.k.a. DSC), which can fail to illuminate a warning light in the required situation. This has led the Japanese automaker to recall over 12,000 Miatas from the 2024 and 2025 model years.

Mazda filed a recall report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on June 3, 2025. The report states that the lights for the DSC as well as the traction-control (TC) systems may not light up when an abnormal yaw rate (see: getting sideways) is detected. Without the warning lights, drivers could potentially get themselves in trouble with sudden steering inputs that could lead to oversteering or understeering. Since the DSC/TC software is malfunctioning, the systems might not come to the rescue, which obviously raises the risk of a crash.

According to Mazda's NHTSA filing, the issue is caused by an error with the DSC unit's software diagnostic programming. To fix the problem, Miata will ask owners to bring their vehicles to a dealer who will replace the faulty part with improved software. This won't cost customers a penny. However, Mazda says this will be a phased (long-lead) recall, as the necessary parts for all the affected vehicles aren't expected to be available until the second quarter of 2026. Still, individual owners will be notified whether the part for their Miata is available or not available by July 21, 2025.
