Is this Twist Active AMT the more powerful, power steering+AMT featured Nano. Then here is report from ACI. When its from ACI the credibility is unquestioned, I think..!!

The Tata Nano, which many see as a cute car, is set to get some new siblings which would reflect some additional attributes. Our sister publication, Autocar Professional, has learnt that Tata Motors is working on a turbocharged version of the small car. This variant could be introduced during the festive season this year, according to sources.

This will be the first time that the Tata Nano’s engine will see a mechanical addition to help boost the car’s power output significantly. The turbocharged Nano will be aimed at driving enthusiasts.

“Tata Motors is constantly working on upgrades, new variants, and new projects. We continue to look at new and refreshed products to be launched across various segments and, of course, test these vehicles and the same is applicable to the Nano,” said a company spokesperson. The turbocharged Nano project is part of Tata Motors’ strategy to change the image of the Nano from a ‘cheap car’ to a ‘smart city car’. The first significant step of this strategy was the introduction of the power steering-equipped Nano Twist in January. This variant has helped prop up the Nano’s monthly sales. Tata Motors had showcased the Nano Twist Active and AMT-equipped Nano at the Auto Expo 2014.

Future of Nano..!!

In another move, the company is also working on a part-electric Nano called the Nano ‘e-rev’. This variant will help extend the Nano’s driving range as well as add the green quotient to the small car. It is learnt that the car is currently an R&D project. The Nano ‘e-rev’ is part of Tata Motors’ activities to prepare products for the electric vehicle (EV) market in India and overseas.

The company had recently showcased the Manza REEV (range extended electric vehicle) demonstrator vehicle which has a driving range of 88 kilometres in pure electric mode. It can also be driven in hybrid mode. Tata Motors’ R&D projects in the EV space include micro-hybrid technology, mild-hybrid, full EV and range extender technologies. As for the Nano ‘e-rev’, the company has not yet taken a call about launching it. A decision in this regard will also depend on the policy of the government for electric/hybrid vehicles. EV makers have been batting for subsidies from the government, at least in the initial phase. A company spokesperson says, “While we have high degree of technology-readiness and the programme offers several competitive strengths, it is difficult to predict the exact timeframe needed to create the right ecosystem for this to be a market-viable project.” Tata Motors says it is ‘actively engaged with government and other regulatory bodies in setting standards for the industry’.

So, while the Nano' ‘e-rev's' future may hinge on the policy makers, driving enthusiasts can definitely look forward to a peppier Nano when its turbocharged version hits the market. Autocar Professional had broken the story about Tata Motors working on a clutch-less Nano in January this year.

The Tata Nano Twist F-Tronic with the automated manual transmission (AMT) was snapped testing recently in Chiplun, Maharashtra. The prototype is seen with testing equipment on its rear wheels. The Tata Nano Twist F-Tronic gets an AMT system along with refreshed exteriors.

Now, I'm hoping that TATA can somehow give provision to have the AMT on the Nano twist with some premium charge. There will be more takers and more happy customers

From what I'm hearing there is no mechanical changes with the new AMT to be launched

Tata Motors showcased two future variants of the Nano at the Auto Expo this year. The Tata Nano Twist F-Tronic is the automated manual transmission (AMT) variant of the small car, while the Tata Nano Twist Active is the version with a functioning bootlid.

In a first, Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Shubham Nitin Ghute, has spotted what could be called the Nano Twist Active F-Tronic which gets the highlight features of both variants – the AMT and the opening bootlid. While the interior images show the AMT module, the picture of the rear shows the door handle and keyhole on the bootlid.

When launched, the new Nano variants will get revised exterior and interior design as well. The outsides see new bumpers with redesigned airdams and ‘smoked’ headlight clusters, while the interior will get a new 3-spoke steering wheel (not seen in these spyshots) with a similar design as the Zest’s, wood-like inserts in the center console and center tunnel and new seat fabrics.

The refreshed Nano is expected to go on sale by the end of this year.

Competitors: Datsun redi-GO, Renault XBA, Maruti Alto 800

Expected Price: INR 2.6 – 2.8 lakhs, ex-Showroom

Tata Nano facelift continues testing

To feature an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).

The Tata Nano facelift which was previewed at the Auto Expo this year in the form of the Tata Nano Twist Active concept (with AMT) has been spotted testing again, this time by IndianCarsBikes.

Repositioned as a “smart city car” the Nano has witnessed little visual changes in its five-year spell. The punitive automobile received chrome strips and a revised rear bumper for the 2013 model year in addition to new colors and a feature-added dashboard.

The upcoming facelift however features comprehensibly restyled front and rear bumpers with larger smiley-shaped intakes. The headlamp cluster has been revised to include new reflectors and the front foglamps are now circular. The most significant improvement comes through the functional bootlid.

Inside, a new steering wheel (possibly only on the top-end variants) and plusher trims are expected.

The AMT gearbox supplied by Magneti Marelli will be the talking point of the facelifted Nano. The unit is likely to use the same four-ratio setup as the standard manual unit and would come mated to the 624 cc two-cylinder rear-mounted petrol motor which currently produces 38 PS and 51 Nm of torque.

If nano doesn't get launched before alto launch, mark my words this will become a huge loss for company bcz nano AMT was speculated for last 1.5 years and they had such a big opportunity to make it success. Now we will see the sales of alto AMT.

Eagerly waiting for Nano AMT. Nano is a vfm car and AMT will be an icing on the cake. My present decision is between Celerio, K10 or Nano AMT. Whichever appeals to my head as well as my wife's heart will be my first vehicle [:D]

hey bro i think we should remember after launch of alto1000 or alto k10 AMT also still TATA NANO AMT will be a cheapest VFM AMT car in its segment i guess that Alto K10 AMT price be above Alto800 and below CELERIO so NANO beats in VFM section [clap]

I don't know how you're comparing alto with nano. People in India will go eyes closed and buy an alto. What about nano. Does Tata have such a position in India. The only advantage which nano could get was first mover's advantage, which Tata is going to loose. Once a car is marked as a flop, its really hard to revive it. U need drastic changes like change in external shape and a change of name atleast. Both is not applicable for nano. If they launched it first with amt lot of people in the fence would have jumped for it. After alto amt launch, lets see how many goes for it. If that 1 lakh price difference between nano and alto is what u r concerned then, that's not the case with majority of buyers in India, otherwise v would have seen mad rush of nanos in our roads.

Tata Nano Twist XE is launching next month with which the Tata Nano's CX and LX variants shall be discontinued.

A new Nano Twist XE will be launched next month, and it will be placed below the Nano XT. As its name connotes, the Nano Twist XE will get power steering and it is based on the CX trim. Going by the images here, the Twist XE will do without body colored bumpers and wheel caps, and will come in three colors – Silver, Gold and White.
