dude,mahindra legend is a jeep manufactured by M&M with a limited no. of units and are being sold by the "invite only" principle.

Hi, can experts answer difference between MM 540 and MM 550 ?

MM540 and MM550 are on the same platform,same chassis,engine etc. with one difference that 540 had 4 forward 1 reverse and 550 had 5 forward and 1 reverse. (to my knowledge). Never driven both these jeeps And yeah, both these jeeps used "peugeot" engines, i guess.

1. What is the famous " International " engine used in Mahindra and Mahindra Jeeps ?

The international engine got its name as the engine was derived from "International" tractors, it is also called as MD2350 engine.

2. What is the famous " Peugeot " engine used in Mahindra and Mahindra Jeeps ?

There are two - XDP 4.9 (2112 cc) and XD3P (2498 cc) derived from Peugeot engine family and seen across in most old Jeeps.

3. Which Engine out of the above was more successful ?

Both were successful in their period and their respective applications. Peugeot engine and spares are still easily available.

4. What is the Main difference between MM 540 and MM 550 ?

540 is for civilian, 550 is for Army. Also 550's are usually 8 seater and above, 540 are 7 seaters.

5. What are the differences between Mahindra Major and Mahindra CJ3b ?

CJ3B is 80 " wheelbase and 48" track, Major is 91" wheelbase and 51" track. This is the main difference.

6. What are the engine differences Mahindra Major MDi and Mahindra Thar Di ?

Both are similar engines with adaptation changes.

7. What is Mahindra Legend ?

It is a special edition NGCS 550 made during the 60th Anniversary of Mahindra. It was the only M&M 4WD with a factory equipped 8000 lbs Ramsey electric winch.
