Hey all!
Dropped the idea of buying i10...
A dealer has offered to give a discount of 20,000-30,000 on a new 2010 made i20 sportz model.
We are planning to buy i20 magna (2011 make).
Please suggest which deal is better.

Ankit, As long as the dealer is offering a satisfactory discount (i.e. upto your own expectations), it makes a worth considerable option but please make sure to thoroughly inspect the car since it has been a while we left 2010 and therefore, it could be a suspected model or a demo car. You can ask for the Chassis Number and decode it to know exactly when was that particular model manufactured (Refer VIN Thread). In case you have a little suspect that the dealer is trying to take you for a ride, do not go for it because I really don’t think that other than Alloys and Airbags, both the models have much difference. Atleast you will have the peace of mind at the end of the day.
Ankit, request you not to go for 2010 i20. It has steering rattle issues. If you can live with it then only go ahead.
Note -- This issue crops up after 3-4 months of usage. Even 2011 cars have this issue. Don't know about mar and apr 2011 models
Yes a discounted 2010 Sportz model does sound interesting but make sure the car is in perfect condition and it is not a TD car! Don't believe in the ODO meter readings even if they are less , inspect the car very carefully and make a decision.
Even i was contemplating the decision to buy i10 or i20 till yesterday. Dealer was quite happy to offer 24k discounts + freebies(worth 10k atleast) for i10 Kappa 2 Sportz variant. However decided against it as my Dad purchased the same model few months back at my home town. Was more willing to buy i20 Magna variant but was not being offered a single penny discount. So i have to drop that as well. It is really interesting / frustating position to be in. It is really great to have discount in the tune of 30k for i20 Sportz. Just make sure that car was not being used as a TD vechile and current condition of it. If you intend to keep it for 5-6 years i dont think it will have huge impact on the re-sale value.
Even if you have the slightest of confusion then urge you not to go for the deal and rather book i20 Magna. Don't spoil the whole experience of owning and using the car for a mere 20-30k discount. I did the same by deciding against i10.
