Sorry. It's upsetting to see no South Indian members turning up to help in this thread. Hope I can help a bit on my own part - calculated the distance from Google Maps and it shows as follows.

- Cochin, Kerala - Coorg, Karnataka: 388 Kms (6 Hours)
- Coorg, Karnataka - Mookambika Temple: 264 Kms (4.5 Hours)

These are only indicative though. Please verify from elsewhere too.

Hi Rajesh: I did miss this thread.

How ever i am assuming that you mean to say Kollur Mookambika temple.

I have been to that place during my visit on the way to Goa.
The place can be done via Bhatkal you will have to deviate near Baindoor Shiroor.
Just after the place called Manki.

And i assume you are reaching Madikeri via Kasargod.

So i would like to tell you to 1st visit Kollur Mokambika temple.
Then explore the nearby places Anegudda(Ganesh temple)-Hattiangady Ganesh temple-Idugunji -Murdeshwar-Gokarna, then you can visit Coorg.

And if you are trying to go Madikeri via Mysore-Virajpet the road has been closed.
So the alternate option is via Kasargod.

Hai friends,

We plan to hire a tempo traveller and like to spend four or five days.

Friends, please suggest me a better route, where to stay, spots to see and timings.
In Coorg there are many Home stay's, which provide breakfast,Lunch & Dinner if required.
One day charges would be somewhere around 2500/- for one house where 6-7 members can stay.

In and around Madikeri(Coorg) there are many places around.
Abbi falls,BhagaMandala-TalaCauvery(Rising of water of river kaveri).
Dubare elephant camp, Raja Seat park, Omkareshwara Temple

Omkareshwara temple has a pond in the midst of temple.

And due to the recent rain, you can enjoy the lush greens of nature.
These are must visit places.
And there are many private falls, which can be accessed if you know the owners of resort.
And we had gone to orange county resorts.

Just sneak into my travelogue- http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...el-bangalore-mercara-coorg-mangalore-goa.html

Any more info, i can surely help you out.

Hello Rajesh, so from Kottayam you will be having beach drive all along Kerala.

And just after Mahe-Kanhaghad-Kasargod(Karnataka-Kerala Border), You will be entering Karnataka via Ullal(Mangalore).

So you will go via Surathkal-Kinnigoli-Udupi-Kundapur-Kollur.
This is the best route.

In Udupi you can visit famous Krishna temple, and then head to Kollur.
My suggestion is to explore the places that you pass by.
Actually we went to Kollur via Maravante Beach road i.e. after Kundapur.
But you will have to deviate on NH-17 towards right in Kundapur.

So what is the time constraint that you have planned the trip.
So that i can suggest must visit places.

Thanks mukesh,

Now it's our plan
Start at friday evening travel full night
and spare 2 days for mookambi and near by place and two days in coorg and near by place
But we like to visit kollur on monday and tuesday ie last 2 days
So first coorg and near by places or places on the way..
UDUPPI, MALPEY BEECH,MURDIDESWARA,DHARMASTHAL,KUDAJADRI.....Is this places are on the way or need deviation .....
I think the distance from kottayam to mookambi(kollur) is around 750km.

Rajesh let me put in order, Yes 1st time visitors always visit Malpe beach & don't forget to visit Pabba's (Near Beejai, Mangalore) Or Ideal Ice Cream Parlour.
So 1st visit Udupi ,which comes after Surathkal-Manipal.
Then 2nd Kollur, Kodachadri are near by.
Then 3 rd Murdeshwar.
So complete those places.

Then you will have to plan for Dharmastala followed by Madikeri(Mercara or Coorg).

With the time constraint you have said i think you can skip Kodachadri as it's only a hill.
Only jeep or 4wd's can go on that route.
So for a jeep with so many members may cost much.
So must visit places are Udupi-Kollur then the near by temples i mentioned in my previous posts near Kollur followed by Murdeshwar.
Then to Dharmastala & Coorg will be a better trip.

For Dharmastala you will have to go via Mangalore interior or Alternate route through Karkala.

mukshus rajesh had mentoned that he intends to visit kollur on the last 2 days of his journey. i would suggest him to travel by night from kottayam to kannur then to kanhangad on the NH17. from kanhangad make right turn to panathur, vagamandala, madikeri. from vagamandala to shiradi(,on the mangalore road) then right to darmasthala.from darmasthala to mangalore.don't forget to visit mangalore - the pabbas ice cream parlor near corporation office - taste the jackfruit flavour(my weakness). from manglore the rest of the journey as mukeshus adviced on nh17.( have to deviate from baindur to reach kollur.

Oh i was not aware of the route through Kanhaghad.

Must visit places have been mentioned in the previous posts.

I would like to tell you Kodachadri is a hill with only a narrow road reaching the hill.
So better skip this places and visit Murdeshwar-Idugunji-AneGudda temple.
Gokarna.
As you said you have 4 days.

You atleast need 1 day in Madikeri to see all the places, then the next early morning leave to Dharmastala.

Then after the darshan of Lord Manjunatha, you can visit car Museum in Dharmastala of Dr.Veerendra Hegde.

Then there is Ram Temple on the way to dharmasthala.

Then leave to Manglore on same day and halt at Udupi.

In Udupi visit Diana Hotel for breakfast next day.

On day three morning visit Lord Krishna Temple, then leave to Kollur.
