NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(MSIL) will ramp up production by about 10 per cent or nearly 1.10 lakh units a month from next month, taking its annual production to 13 lakh units in 2011-12 to meet the growing demand, company Chairman R. C. Bhargava said here on Thursday.
Addressing presspersons, Mr. Bhargava said the carmaker expected its highest-ever monthly sales in September, with a growth of 32-33 per cent compared to the same month last year.
Interestingly, MSIL reported its highest-ever monthly sales of over 1.04-lakh units in August. Its share of the Indian car market at the end of August was 51.8 per cent against 53.2 per cent recorded in the previous fiscal year and 55.1 per cent in 2008-09.
On the waiting period for MSIL cars, Mr. Bhargava said: “We continue to have waiting list. Barring M800, A-Star and Estilo, all cars have some amount of waiting... Swift DZiRE sedan and multi-purpose vehicle Eeco have the longest waiting period,” he added.
