Yeah I agree, something similar was being said about the Ertiga. But Ertiga's kerb weight is much lower than traditional Ladder- Frame UVs and moreover the engine has 200Nm torque, almost similar to the Innova. Also It is a 4 cylinder. But I don't understand the logic behind the 2 cylinder diesel for a Medium size hatch, irrespective of how light it is. Noise will be high as seen in the first video, also it will never have the thrust and highway capacity.

The Celerio twin cylinder 800 cc diesel is tubo charged and with the latest reports coming in it is as refined as the Swift diesel when comparing the noise level (Refer Gaadiwaadi website)

Maruti Suzuki’s new 793cc diesel engine is all ready to hit the Indian market -ZDI varaint will be available, AMT too will be a possible option.Launch in Jan 2015

The Celerio is the first hatchback to get this engine and at the moment it is undergoing its final stage of testing in Japan. The Celerio and a new commercial vehicle from Suzuki will be available with this new diesel engine.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio will come with three trims, LDi, VDi and ZDi. The VDi will come with an option of ABS too. This is Suzuki’s first in-house developed diesel engine and it will be the smallest diesel engine in India. The 793cc diesel engine will churn about 50bhp of power and it will be coming with common rail diesel technology

Celerio diesel could deliver a mileage of 33km/l with AC reports Gaadiwaadi. No AMT planned at launch.

Dear all, The DDis Celerio is expected to be launched by probably the 1st quarter of 2015 with a 800cc engine after the S-cross . The aim of the forthcoming vehicle is mainly to challenge diesel hatch segment and is expected to be priced around INR 4.5-5 Lacs. The fuel average could be around 28 km/l as informed by my uncle.

It might be the next big ticket item if diesel engine holds up for maruti. It will wipe out all competition. .tata,hyundai all will bite dust. Mileage of 33 arai is the best and highest and what will be the appeal. Maruti will have to keep a big production line ready for this. After 800 it will be another revolution if this happens.

Absolutely, The Diesel Celerio specs was informed in the afternoon to me today and while co-relating the average, if ARAI claims 33 then lets assume a fall of at-least 10 percent in actual traffic scenario and somewhere around 28-30 km/l would be actual fuel average that it may deliver. This car is going to sell as hot-cakes and once again Maruti will retain and shine on the top of sales charts. Now the best part would be that Maruti will have 800cc engine both in Petrol and Diesel. In the expected price range I feel it would be a great deal.

Celerio diesel to launch in April ( 20th?).
Celerio ASG ( AMT ) in ZXI variant also seem to be on ready for launch.
