Kia India has unveiled the Seltos facelift and with it, it has added many features as well as reintroduced the turbo-petrol engine. Bookings for the Seltos facelift will open on July 14.

  1. Kia Seltos facelift gets a new Pewter Olive colour
  2. GT Line, X Line trims will get a slightly different bodykit
  3. Seltos facelift gets 16 ADAS features
The Seltos was launched in India in August 2019 and the midlife refresh has arrived after almost four years. However, the Seltos received a facelift globally in 2022. Kia mentioned that it sold more than five lakh Seltos units since midisize SUVs launch.

Compared to the outgoing model, the Seltos facelift gets a slightly larger bumper, body-coloured inserts in the fog lamp housing, redesigned headlights with new LED daytime running lamps that extend into the grille and the four-block design for the fog lamps.

In profile, the biggest change in the Seltos is the new 18-inch, dual-tone alloy wheels that are also used on the international-spec model. At the back, the Seltos facelift gets new inverted L-shaped tail-lights (seen on many new Kia models) that are connected by an LED light bar. The Seltos also gets sequential turn indicators. The reverse light has now moved from the tail-light housing to the redesigned bumper. The Seltos facelift also gets a refreshed tail gate design with fewer chrome bits than the outgoing model.

The Seltos facelift also gets a new colour – Pewter Olive – and will be offered with eight other solid colours and two dual tone colours. The turbo-petrol trims will also get dual exhausts tips, and the GT Line and X Line will get a slightly different body kit than the Tech Line trims.

Inside, the Seltos facelift now gets a dual screen set-up with two 10.25-inch displays where one is the digital instruments clusters and other is the infotainment touchscreen. The centre console has also been refreshed as it now gets thinner AC vents and a redesigned panel for HVAC and audio controls. The X Line trim will get a new sage green colour for the interior, while the GT Line variants will get a new black and white interior theme.

Talking about features, the Seltos facelift gets dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch heads-up display, electronic parking brake and Bose-tuned 8-speaker system with sound mood lamps. Safety features inlude 17 ADAS functions like forward collision warning assist, blind spot collision warning, lane keep assist as well as six airbags as standard, tyre pressure monitoring system, ESC and Hill Assist Control.

Under the hood, the Seltos facelift will continue with the 115hp, 144Nm, 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 115hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. The former will get a 6-speed manual or a CVT, while the latter will be offered with a 6-speed iMT and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Kia has reintroduced a turbo-petrol powertrain with the Seltos facelift with a 1.5-litre unit that replaces the older 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine that was discontinued back in March 2023. The new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine makes 160hp and 253Nm of torque, which is 20hp and 10Nm more than the previous turbo-petrol engine. The new engine will be mated to a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Kia Seltos facelift bookings open for Rs 25,000

Kia India has opened bookings for the Seltos facelift for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The SUV made its debut in India earlier this month and its price announcement is expected to happen in the coming weeks. With the facelift, Kia has added some new features to the Seltos as well as reintroduced a turbo-petrol engine.

Though the high demand for the new Kia Seltos might be great news for the automaker, it wouldn't be so for a consumer as the waiting period for the model will also increase. However, there is a way to jump the queue.

In order to do this, interested customers must generate a unique code called a 'K-Code' before pre-booking the Kia Seltos facelift. According to the automaker, pre-booking the Kia Seltos facelift with K-Code will ensure early delivery of the vehicle.

However, generating a K-Code is not simple. For this, either the interested buyer has to connect with an existing Seltos owner and ask them to generate K-Code through the MyKia App or the interested buyer can generate the K-Code by entering the VIN number of the Seltos on the website.

Bookings for the new Seltos are already underway for a token amount of Rs 25,000, and a special K-code can help buyers get priority delivery. Kia says it received 13,424 bookings on the very first day it opened bookings.

Here’s a look at the detailed price list of the Seltos facelift in India:

FireShot Capture 242 - Kia Seltos price, facelift launch details, features, engines and deli_ ...png

Under the hood, the Seltos facelift continues with the 115hp, 144Nm, 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 116hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. The former gets a 6-speed manual or a CVT, while the latter is offered with a 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. There’s also a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces class-leading 160hp and 253Nm of torque, and comes mated to a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with the manual gearbox is available on the HTE, HTK, HTK+ and the HTX trims, while the CVT gearbox is only available on the HTX trim. As for the 1.5-litre diesel engine, it's available with an iMT gearbox as standard on all Tech Line trims – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ – while the torque converter automatic is offered on the HTX, GTX+ and X-Line trims.

The new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine is now also available on the Tech Line trims; on the pre-facelift model it was only offered on the GT Line and X-Line trims.

The new Seltos comes with majorly refreshed front and rear styling – there’s an all-new bumper with a larger grille, redesigned headlights with new LED daytime running lamps that extend into the grille and a four-block design for the fog lamps. At the rear, there are new inverted L-shaped tail-lights connected by an LED light bar, and a sportier-looking bumper.

The Seltos facelift also gets a new colour – Pewter Olive – and is offered with eight other solid colours and two dual-tone colours. The turbo-petrol trims get dual exhaust tips, and the GT Line and X Line get a slightly different body kit than the Tech Line trims. The GT Line and X-Line trims also ride on class-leading 18-inch alloys.

Even more comprehensive are updates to the interior, the biggest talking point being the dual 10.25-inch connected screens for infotainment and instrumentation. The centre console has also been redesigned with slimmer AC vents and new HVAC controls. There are also more soft-touch materials all around the cabin, and the interior can be specced in three different colour combinations, depending on the trim.

On the equipment front, the two biggest additions are the ADAS suite and the panoramic sunroof. The ADAS package brings with it forward collision warning assist, autonomous emergency braking and lane keep assist, to name a few, while six airbags, ESC, hill-start assist, all-wheel disc brakes, TPMS and three-point seat belts for all passengers with reminders are standard on all trims. Other notable features include a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch head-up display, electronic parking brake, rain-sensing wipers and a Bose-tuned 8-speaker system with sound mood lamps.

The Diesel hte imt variant is most value for money, since it only misses on the infotainment system. It gets the seat height adjustment on the driver side which is not available on most entry models.

Kia Seltos Base variant launched with 5 more Colour options

kia-seltos-colours-9.jpg

To ensure Seltos customers do not have to make compromises on the colour options, Kia has added more colours to the base HTE variant. Similar changes have been introduced with some other variants as well. Seltos base HTE variant is available at a starting price of Rs 10.90 lakh. With more colours, it can probably target a larger segment of potential buyers.

Kia Seltos base HTE variant was earlier available with only two colour options – Sparkling Silver and Clear White. This limited colour range may have prompted some buyers to choose higher variants of Seltos. Or, some buyers with limited budgets may have chosen to go with rival offerings.

For example, Hyundai Creta base variant has five colour options. Apart from the standard white, there are other more exciting colour choices such as Abyss Black Pearl, Fiery Red, Ranger Khaki and Robust Emerald Pearl. Similarly, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara base Sigma variant has four colour options.

It is likely that bringing more colours for Seltos base variant is a decision based on market feedback. Seltos HTE variant is now available with a total of seven colour options. In addition to the earlier two, the five new additions are Imperial Blue, Pewter Olive, Intense Red, Gravity Grey and Aurora Black Pearl. Kia has always worked to ensure that its customers get the best value. Adding more colour options to the base variant is another way to improve competencies against rival offerings.

In the case of Seltos HTK and HTK+ variants, a total of six colours were available earlier. The Aurora Black Pearl colour has now been introduced with Seltos HTK and HTK+ variants. In other changes, dual-tone colour options are no longer available with HTX+ variant. It now has only monotone shades. For dual-tone colour options, users will need to upgrade to Seltos GT Line variants.
