Tata Motors hikes prices for its passenger vehicles effective from Nov 7

Tata Motors has said that it will marginally hike the prices across its passenger vehicles from November 7. In July, the auto major had announced a marginal price hike of 0.55 per cent for its PV range. A few changes were made in January and April 2022.

"Effective November 7, 2022, the average increase will be 0.9 per cent, depending on the variant and model," the company said in a statement.

The auto major explained that it has been bearing a great portion of the increased costs, but due to rising overall input costs, it has to pass some of the prices to the consumers through this minimal price hike. The latest price hike will be applicable to all Tata cars.

Tata Motors to hike car prices in January 2023

Tata Motors is set to increase passenger car pricing starting next month. According to Shailesh Chandra, Tata Motors’ Managing Director for Passenger Vehicles and Electric Vehicles, the updated rates should lessen the effects of commodity costs, which have been high for most of the current year.

While speaking to media, Chandra stated,

The regulatory change will have its impact on the cost. Even the real impact of softening of commodity prices is only going to come from next quarter and we still have the residual impact of the commodity escalation that we have seen during the year. So we are evaluating a price increase basis some of the residual effect that is left as far as the commodity prices are concerned. Battery prices and new regulations have also impacted the EV side. We are exploring potential price increase next month because of these factors for both ICE and EVs.

Volkswagen has also announced price hike across its entire model range w.e.f Jan 2023. The percentage of increase isn’t specified but the reason is attributed to rising commodity prices and upcoming regulatory changes.

Maruti Suzuki hikes vehicle prices by 1.1% across models

Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said it has hiked prices of its vehicles across models by about 1.1 per cent. This is the second price hike that the carmaker is undertaking in the ongoing fiscal year, after increasing it in April 2022.

In December last year, the company had said it would hike prices of its vehicles to offset the impact of rising input costs and make provisions to update the model range to conform to stricter emission norms which will kick in from April 2023.

"An estimated weighted average of increase across models stands at around 1.1 per cent. This indicative figure is calculated using ex-showroom prices of models in Delhi and will come into effect from January 16, 2023," Maruti Suzuki India said in a regulatory filing.
