Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

I followed with my dealer and got it in person within 2 months of my delivery.
Thanks GrandRK. I'll also follow up with my dealer. I somehow feel getting the warranty certificate in person is always better.

Quick update regarding highway drivability. I had been to Bangalore from Mysore (around 350 kms to and fro), so thought of penning down few points regarding the vehicle performance on the highway
1. Car felt very stable till 120kmph. I did not go beyond that as the car is still new. Average speed was about 80Kmph.
2. Need to check the mileage figures as I still have lot of fuel left. Im guessing the mileage to be around 15kmpl. This is with AC on 80% of the time.
3. Observed little Body roll for rear passengers.
4. The steering does become heavy once the vehicle crosses 60 kmph. I liked the feedback I got from the steering above 60kmph. Felt more assured.
5. Speed sensing volume controls works pretty well. Boon to have it on the highways I would say.
6. I could hear little tire noise out on the highway but nothing major. NVH levels inside the car was good. Very pleasent drive through out.

Overall very happy with the drive. Cheers! [:)]

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

i bought a elm 327 for the car. if anyone is wondering if obd scanner works for the car it does. although the gear shift indicator has problems understanding 4th gear..kinna weird and there is no fuel level automatic sensor meaning to get distance to empty correct ,everytime you fill up the fuel level needs to be set in the phone. but the average fuel economy value is amazing am getting constant 14 with ac in 50 -50 highway traffic drive conditions. idling time takes around 1.8 litres perhour.
probably you might have used by now for good amount of time.
what is cost of OBD scanner and where you procured it?
was it worth the price?

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

While reversing, the rear bumper (on the side) of my Grand i10 hit a corner stone and it damaged the bumper with a dent, scratches and a flat hole near the center of the dent where it was pierced. The paint is also damaged. Here is how it looks. The alignment is damaged and a few of the plastic holders on which the bumper is fixed has broken.

Any suggestions on how to repair this? I don't intend to take it to the dealer as of now since it would be expensive for the entire repair/replacement of the bumper and paint job.

Replace is the only option here, otherwise all repair job will look bland.

I agree with zenga ,only option will be to replace the whole bumper.

If you claim under insurance it will cost you 1.5k-2.5k. If you get it fixed from hyundai it'd cost you 4.5k-6.5k (just my estimate)

If you get this done from outside , 500 for 2nd hand bumper and 1500rs for paint , total 2k. So confirm all the prices and decide for yourself.

Ps : if you claim under imsurance, you will lose ncb discount on your next insurance.

Thanks! I did manage to pull the dent out using a screwdriver and realigned the edge of the bumper with the fender, however its just hanging. A slight touch will move the alignment. Although it looks slightly better now (without the huge dent), it wont be worth replacing the entire bumper right now for such a huge cost, also would like to try for the no claim bonus. The car is just 5 months old and the entire bumper viewed from the rear is just fine.
I was wondering if any other DIY steps could be taken to reduce the glaring damage being seen.

If you think it's ok then what i can say [:D] take the car to your local car market , there must be some guys who repair the bumpers. They will fix the tear but it will leave black plastic on the bumper. Won't cost more than 100 rupees.

One more question , do you have zero dep insurance or normal ?

My verna's bumper broke so replaced it under claim , paid 1388rs because of zero dep.

I have the normal (comprehensive) insurance, not zero dep.

What would the local car market/garage guys do to repair these? Where would the black plastic come from?

Hi Ayan84,

Very sorry to hear this incidence, i beleive your car is fitted with reverse sensors. Have they given you beep when that stone came in proximity

@ayan - they melt some plastic to fix the bumper using a hot iron bar or something. Or they just use the hot iron to fix it which leaves that black residue which will be visible

Check the image. But this seems like a good work

I was unlucky with the range the sensors have! [sad] The sensor on the side did not detect the stone as it was just beyond it's range. I checked it later using my hand and the beep came when i put my hands closer to the last sensor but there wasnt any beep when i put my hands near the area the damage occurred.

Ok, will try out. Need to do some paint work as well as the yellow and black paint from the stone is visible on this dent.

Thanks for your suggestions!
