Re: Hyundai Fluidic Verna VTVT SX (O) 2 Years and 30,000 Kms

Hey Nick ..20.6 MID figure means it should hover around 19 thats a good FE from 1.6.
About steering if its wobbly may be tyre needs balancing but for me at 140 on expressway steering was not boosting confidence in me because it did not want to be in straight line and was little bit disappointed although car wanted me to push further [;)]

I am now realizing the value of handling in Beat [lol] which I understood after driving Verna for 1k + kms! No body roll and it never disappoints me even if I throw it around the corners at high speed![clap]

i was at 180 for a few seconds above 160 it was wobbling alot but not moving its line i decided its best to lower speed so i maintained a decent speed the remaining journey

Yeah so while driving to mahableshwar was doing a steady 80 a truck was over speeding i guess doing 120 or more suddenly he shifted into mid lane around 30-40 feet infront of me. I somehow decided to get more distance between us and let go of the gas as I did that the trucks differential rod broke of and nuts started flying a rod as well came flying went to the left of the car missing narrowly the i20 behind me. I jammed my brakes hard while the one behind as well one of the bolts came and hit my fender denting it. Second time was while returning back a truck was going super slow on the right lane I decided to shift to mid lane and overtake there was a small tempo on the left lane there space was enough to overtake comfortably but no a bike moron had to jam into that little gap between the tempo and me forcing me to brake again and save the biker who then comes up to me and hurls abuses. Must say horrible driving.

But i just wanted to reach the expressway before it turns dark.

Hello Nick,

Since last two months I am following your thread and find it to be very informative. Thank you very much.
After six months of extensive research on internet I finally booked a crystal white fluidic Verna SX CRDi on 9th August 2013 and got delivery of my car on 22nd August 2013.

Adding some pics of my white viper! (took me one month to give her a unique name [;)])

Soon will be starting my own thread and will be looking for replies from you and other dedicated Verna lovers.

Re: Hyundai Fluidic Verna VTVT SX (O) 2 Years and 30,000 Kms

Hi all,

I got my Verna 1.6 VTVT SX white colour delivered on 20 Sep '13. The car is very cool to drive and the power is simply superb. I have just done 300 kms as I have to travel frequently out of town. Once I do some 1k kms I will post a complete
ownership review of the new beast.

As I don't have much knowledge on cars, request expert help on the below 3 things:

1. Seat covers

I visited few shops and had a look on few brands - Autoform, Gsport, Dolphin and HiTech. I liked the GSport (Roadster) brand due to its custom fit and material. The price quoted for Verna is 10500 including fitting. I saw a custom made cover for a swift and it was cool. My interior colour is beige and black mixed. The material I saw dint have beige colour. But I was impressed with a black one (pic below).

- I wanted to know if this will suit my exterior and interior colour
- How about changing the red lining in it to beige
- What are the pros and cons of this brand and color
- Are there any other brands which is better than this?

2. Speaker upgrade

I am not interested to change the head unit as I feel it would spoil the original look. Got to know from a shop that the below upgrade will give me good sound output and clarity
Change front door company speakers to Infinity component (360W) - Rs. 4800
Change the back door company speakers to Infinity coaxial speakers (Model 6502) - Rs. 3500
Add a 4 channel Sony AMP and Sony subwoofer (Taken from my previous i10)

- Will this combination give me a good sound output?
- How is the sound quality when only Sub woofer is connected to amp? (I don't want to connect the door speakers as they would cause jarring sound)
- Any other options? My budget is < 10k.

3. Problem in MID

The MID is not consistent. For the past few days though the fuel tank is full suddenly sometimes when I start the car, it shows empty for few minutes and once I start moving few meters it comes back to full tank. Also after running several kms when the Fuel meter decreases, it always does by 2 points (2 horizontal lines) instead of one by one.

- Is this common across all Verna's? Or do I need to get this checked?

Hi EcoSport,

Congrats for your new Verna. I got my updated Verna on 22nd August 2013 but I never have any issue with the MID. It's strange that it shows empty and then shows actual fuel bars. I think you need to show it to the service center.

The seat covers looks cool. But why not prefer beige color that would match the interior. Beige makes the car feel more roomy than darker color. I understand that black will be much easier to maintain though [frustration].

Also, I would suggest you not to tamper or change the existing speakers. Let it be there for a while and then have them changed.

What about the FE you are getting?

Thanks kentkits. Yeah I will get it checked with the service center guys. I am yet to complete a tankfull method. Will keep you posted once I complete it.

Sure I will check with beige colour but only problem is it cant sustain my 15 months old daughter's play and will get dirty soon.

I feel the sound quality is too low thats the reason for change. Will it void my warranty if they dont cut any wires?

ecosport no warranty issues unless it causes an issue, i have done wire cutting to instal my amp speakers and led scuff plates, the showroom also cuts wires to do the same fitting. ONly thing it should not cause any issue or else the part that is affected due to the wire cut will be on your cost to repair others on warranty.

About your mid issue i guess its an issue with the fuel level system in the fuel tank or you have a buggy software. The showroom will be able to diagnose it better.

The seat cover the color choice is your preference although after owning cars with beige interiors i kind of not prefer black unless the interiors are grey. Why not see for some browns?
If you want the black one then nothing beats red and black.

kentkits congrats on your viper, not much difference leaving the alloy. Are the old ones still up as an option?

the shell fuel just got over, turned out an average of 15.3km/l well now it will be back to 10-12 with the usual fuels and traffic.

Finally Got the car delivered yesterday on its promised day. Overall experience was fine. The car was in excellent condition with all its plastic protectors. Its awesome. But heavy rain and excessive traffic make it worse and the delivery took a whole day almost. Few pics attached bellow

Re: Hyundai Fluidic Verna VTVT SX (O) 2 Years and 30,000 Kms

Questions:
The turning mirror is automated fold but once by mistake I folded one from outside by hand, does that damage anything?

And when the engine starts the RPM is at slight above 1k during idle, is that fine?

Anyone knows from where I can purchase Meguiar’s products online or any shop in Kolkata where I can get these at reasonable rate? I found these but not sure if their rate is fine. As comparing with another online shopping cart the rates are different. Please advice.

@Nick, Thanks. When I had booked in August. They had both old and new model to offer. Both at same price. Personally speaking I was not very happy with new alloy and liked the old one. However, I went with new one as it was part of the updated Verna with new remote key and remote trunk opener.

@Soumen : Congrats! [clap] Silver color with new alloys looks awesome! Post your review thread also.

Regarding the mirror, hence if it happens few times, the mirrors will not fold in sync. Left mirror may fold quicker or late than right mirror. Even mine was once folded manually by my maid's kid.

One more thing I marked in my car, updated Verna has no Hyundai name on it. Just Hyundai logo.

Thanks Kentkits yes its looks awesome when the car was clean and shiny. The new alloy also looks good, the older one was nice but this one has a new looks, no other car have a alloy in dual color like this.

Regarding the mirror, mine just happens once but after that no issues so far, I checked it many times.

Yes at the rear it has only the logo, no Hyundai name.
