Bang on pricing! Honda seems to have learnt from its mistakes though the hard way but we are not complaining.

These Price points open a plethora of problems for other manufacturers at this crucial juncture. We need to see how others react to knee-jerk or wait & watch!

Anyway kudos to Honda for getting it right this time

Last weekend I went to Honda Dealership to inquire about New Jazz but at the same time also took an opportunity to check out the Brio inside out. I could spend only a few minutes with it so here are a few quick first impressions about this car.

- Overall design of Honda Brio is love it or hate it.

- Price tag sounds tempting for a Honda car in India.

- It’s a really a compact city car and can sure serve the purpose well.

- The front cabin is quite spacious while rear end is just sufficient enough.

- The interior colour looks more like a yellow rather than beige and it’s too loud for my taste.

- Plastic quality on the inside is reasonably good in comparison to a few competing hatchbacks.

- Air conditioner vents, when completely shut, offers an impression as if they do not exist at all.

- Glove box is just an average sized one. Ok for keeping docs and other small things but don’t expect to store anything bigger.

- The boot space is deep and can easily carry at least a couple of normal sized suitcases along with a small bag.

- The rear glass also serves the purpose as a hatch door – That's why I immediately questioned the sales person what if someone attempts to close it harsh and the glass breaks off? The sales person then and there smartly presented the demo, by keeping two suitcases inside the boot in vertical position and closed the hatch too harshly. Voila! It worked and nothing happened to the glass. He also asked me afterwards to test the same if I wish to.

PS: Honda Brio is having a wait list of approx. one month with this dealership.

2 big drawbacks in this car:-

Even the top end, V model doesn't have rear defogger, nor wiper. Incase of a hatchback, a rear wiper is a must, especially as the cars' own water from tyre goes on the rear glass. Strange to see this from Honda.

I sat only for a couple of minutes and felt quite congested on the back seat. Brio is a typical small car for cities.

Ohhh.....& that despite the fact that the front seats have a concave back so as to make more space for rear passenger. It seems that in absence of such seats, it would have been even more cramped.

OK, now what say guys, Brio or i10 ?

Its definitely Brio, just for its performance and good features when compared to the i10.I think that the rear seat space is adequate for 6 ft. Below even in the long journeys

Glass or no glass, hatchbacks have no safety in case of rear collision. However, I feel that toughened glass is no match to steel, so rear strength of brio will be far less than its competitors.
