Re: Honda Contemplating To Bring Maruti Ertiga Rival: Named Mobilio

What's wrong with Honda?Hell bound on not learning from mistakes? One lakh more than Ertiga?!Really!!!.With the Ertiga having discounts of upto 70000,I don't know whether this was a smart pricing. But as there are blind Honda admirers, this may also prove to be a hit.

Mobilo will be cheaper for maintaining compared to Ertiga
How can you say this as the Mobilo is not yet on road ?
We can check this only after a year or so.
PS : Nothing personal.

OT : The price is high !! Is it because they paid heavily to Kapil [lol]

Re: Honda Contemplating To Bring Maruti Ertiga Rival: Named Mobilio

My Thoughts,
Honda has priced Mobilio premium over Ertiga because of several factors.
1. Premium Badge
2. Slightly Bigger Car
3. Better Powertrains

While most have felt the pricing to be disastrous, i felt Honda have done the right thing because,
Maruti is always known for its attractive pricing. If Ertiga would have been at same price as Mobilio, it would have not found buyers despite being Maruti. The cars that Maruti have priced well have been successful, while the cars which have been priced on the higher side have been Flop (SX4, Kizashi, Grand Vitara, Estilo). In 2007, Maruti launched the SX4, it was very well loaded and priced accordingly. The initial period it took of, then when Honda introduced City in 2008, the SX4 was literally sunked. And that time too City was costlier compared to SX4, had lesser features. If i remember, none of the variants had Alloys, Fog lamps, leather seats etc. But still it sold in higher numbers then SX4. This is the only difference why Honda Mobilio looks expensive compared to Ertiga.

Lets wait for Market Reaction.

Because it has the same engine of amaze.I am not sure about city but for amaze service charges are very less and i guess it'll not much differ for Mobilo.
You have any idea what Maruti charging for Swift/Ritz/Dzire/SX4/Ertiga diesels for their 10K & 20K service?

Its just slightly bigger and how many buyers looks for powertrain ?

If exterior and interior attracts people and fits their bill they will take it

On many sites reviews are out now you know how the interiors and exterior quality ?

Even tata improved their quality on zest, mobilo has same face of brio and amaze will it fetch the premium price ?

Lets wait and see the result in couple of months

Still trying to understand Honda's over optimistic pricing of Mobilio. Could it be that at present Honda is not looking for volumes and just trying to milk more profit per piece by overpricing Mobilio?

I don't think Honda can actually deliver even 4-5K Mobilios right now unless they start a second shift at their Tapukara plant, which will only happen later this year according to reports.

My guess is that once the production capacity is ramped up and Honda is looking for volumes, they will cut Mobilio prices. A win-win situation for Honda.

Re: Honda Contemplating To Bring Maruti Ertiga Rival: Named Mobilio

We booked Mobilio today. Reason? It was love at first sight for my dad. He went to the showroom, which coincided with the launch and made the booking immediately. No resistance from my part too.

It has everything we need from a car, at the moment. Ertiga maybe better on certain aspects, but when third row is folded, 2nd row legroom is only average. And the tiny 1.3l diesel with turbo lag, you end up revving more, hence mileage will be less. According to the reviews, mobilio has better high speed dynamics.

Local Honda has no idea about exact delivery schedule, they will update me by tomorrow, which will mostly 2 months as per his guess. According to the executive, CIty production is temporarily stopped to increase mobilio stocks. If everything goes well, Mobilio will be taking some load off XUV.

Re: Honda Contemplating To Bring Maruti Ertiga Rival: Named Mobilio

Even Ertiga does not enjoy any excise benefits because of displacements as both ertiga and mobilio cross 4M length mark. I feel pricing is just arrogance. I am sure at best they will settle around 1-2K per month sales. How one should compete with Ertiga? By having differentiating features such as better engine + features. So far good if Honda priced in the same range of Ertiga. But if you provide slightly better engine and charge hefty premium then How it can compete with Ertiga. I am sure Mobilio will go the way of Jazz or at best like subdued sales of Amaze. If you notice their pricing in Indonesia it is approximately 70% of the city price. Here if you notice it is 80% of City price. Don't know what they are thinking..

None of the MPVs are under 4 meters so its not that only Mobilio is attracting higher excise duty... in fact Maruti has to pay a hefty royality fee to Fiat for sourcing Fiats diesel engines on its cars.

For the money, one gets:

1) A bigger and better engine - Ertiga is terribly under-engined and one can see it if carrying 6 passengers on hilly roads.
2) A bigger and more spacious cabin.
3) Let me drive the car, but looking at the power delivery of 1.5 i-dtec(Its fantastically driveable in City and Amaze), I'd say that 50k premium over Ertiga is what that engine itself deserves.

IMO the mid variant diesel Mobilio seems to be VFM. Except for the sliding seat and More importantly the Airbags. Its priced 70k more than ertiga vdi which is ok for me for the extras given by Honda. Here is the attachement for the Features offered for all variants of Honda. Hope it helps.

What I didn't like in Mobilio is interiors.Pricing is bit ok for me.But,for dad,12L seems to be VFM for him.Had a conversation with dad after launch.

Me-Dad,Mobilio got launched
Dad-Show me the prices of the car
Me-Top end diesel costs 12L
Dad-What?12L?Its more VFM than Innova.Shall we book one for our family use?

That's all for the day.

Crazy Cat-Did you compare Mobilio's engine with Vento's engine?Im waiting for it.

In our garage,Mobilio is for family use and Vento is for daily use.How is the combo?Or else, will go for sedan or an XUV500.
