Late update:
Insurance renewed: Rs 887/- on November 25, 2013.
February 1&2, 2014.
Had a Trivandrum-Palani-Kodaikanal-Trivandrum ride. 850 km in 2 days. Gave 43+ kmpl with all sorts of roads, highways, ghats, etc. No issue for rider, aka me. Pillion had a blown bum![[evil]](https://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/images/smilies/Evil.gif "Evil [evil]")

New upgraded LED tail lamps. 36 superflux/piranha LEDs+3 SMD for number plate. More compact than old 96 LED setup. More output.
Less complicated rear. Neater package.

.Tried most decent stuffs available. Stuck with Motul 5100 15W50. Used up 27 L so far, 9L of which is Motul 5100. Once in a while use Yamalube 15W50 SS, when goes in to SVC.
Current tyre, Duke's 150/60, is holding like hell on most surfaces. Hopeless on slush, most soft compounds don't.
I am not a top end guy. Gimme an empty highway, I'll happily cruise at 85 kmph max. Last attempted topend was 110, my max 115, factory claimed 109. Older ones are much more accurate unlike the current ones showing 120-130.

New brakepads. Always check for right springs before leaving the shop. Got wrong ones.

Exhaust gasket. 22 INR.
Installation.
Remove air scoops. Two bolts in middle. 2 nuts on header behind scoop. So full access after removing scoop.
2 on either side.
Fully comes off.
Removing exhaust. 3 bolts. One on the right.
One in the left.
Third one near rear foot peg.
The bulky exhaust.
Without exhaust.
The space used to be occupied by the catcon.
New exhaust gasket.
Mount the downtube.
Fix the header.
Center stand fouls.
Fix the end can.
Load the springs
Fix L clamp
Fix the round clamp. It got a rubber lining to prevent scratches and vibrations.
Fix it to the L-clamp. Done.
Threw away the center stand.
Ready to roll.

Ran on Yamalube semisynthetic for some 4.3k, which is not even good for 2.5k km. Just because the mech kept delaying appointment and finally decided to change myself. There was only 800 ml after topping up with 200 ml sometime back.

Rs. 12800 still aint cheap but I hope 'Made in Japan' would compensate for it. Post a sound clip please. Any difference in the performance?

When Yamaha started selling, it was close to 20k . I was originally planning to get Leo Vince. LV GP Corsa Alloy one cost 13k, Carbon fiber version, 15k, GP Cobra 18k. Yoshimura end can alone for 15. List goes so and so. And on that off road ride saw the Daytona on another FZ. Then saw someone posted in the FZ FB page he got it for 11.8k. Now the most expensive one was the cheapest in the lot, apart from the made in India, not so reliable Race Concepts one.
Performancewise, the low end has reduced a bit. Upto 2k rpm, no change from stock, then till 4k there is bit drop in torque as there is no back pressure in the pipe, after 4k rpm is flying like rocket. 40-90 acceleration has improved a lot, no hesitation in the 60s. Didn't try topend after installation.
It has got removable db killer, with db killer it sound like a splendor exhaust with hole. Removing it, its a cop magnet. If I rev hard, police can hear it at the next junction![[roll]](https://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/images/smilies/Roll.gif "Roll Eyes [roll]")

So not of much use if one's usage is mainly restricted to city commuting in bumper to bumper traffic?

My use is 80% in traffic. Not that bad, once used to.
When there is no sun, pillion can manage some distance. When it's hot, it will accelerate the bum pain. I did 700 km/2 day with pillion. After 2-3 hours, the pillion literally can't sit or stand, but managed to make 300 km in 12 hours with rest, rest and rest. Now the seat is even harder, so cant sit continuosly as pillion for more than 1 hour. New FZ got wider seat, so there shouldn't be much problem like the older ones.
I get 42-45 on highway cruises.

Barricade goes frameless with Speedex style plates.
Front brake light switch changed.
Old and new switches. Switch end tends to wear making the brake light ON all the time.

Motul 7100 20W50, MRP 805, got an undisclosable sweat deal
Thanks to ****ty TN road and the ***** tailing me standing on the horn. 10-15 potholes continuously at 50+ and chain adjuster gone toss and had to turn back home cancelling the trip.
New Front Tyre. Michelin Pilot Street 110/70-17. Costs 4200. H-rated.
Brake Hose Upgrade. Steel Braided Hose from Pulsar 220. MRP 1109
Fine Monday Morning. It's DIY time.
Brake fluid drained and full brake assembly stripped.
All parts cleaned and ready for fresh install.
Old rubber hose and new steel-braided hose. New one is slightly short and tight fit.
Stripped away the protective plastic cover. Love the exposed steel look.
Routed the hose.
Clamps swapped from old hose.
Reservoir cleaned of all sludge.
Exit of reservoir and the copper washer.
Banjo bolt.
Draining nipple.
Caliper assembly
Brake pads. 27k run. Still life for another 5k min. Only 130 bucks and most VFM part in FZ.
Pads installed.
The copper washer.
Hose mated with reservoir.
Also at the caliper. Ready to bleed. Fresh bleeding is hectic.
