Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

online deals are not for the restless lot.

The J Pricing Would vary upon what the retail value is. That is if it is available in retail for 12k,then it could sell at 8k online and then that 8k pricing offered was good.
But my gut says price would be around 14 to 16k for a new piece.
So 10k would have been decent depending upon the condition.
New one comes for 14,500 now . Again he is kind of a guy who will not wait for the right buyer and all that kind of things .
Yo yo.
Let us know before putting it online [;)] !

As you said, it is the mindset of people / earning / lifestyle choosing different option. We look for the cheapest deal. We may be having time to sell online/ask our friends.
In your case, if you may make more money than wasting time to sell online/ship to them etc, it is not worth for you. 'Time is Money'

The whole idea behind my post was when someone said 'hard earned money' with 'risk' in online shopping.

If i were in a "great" position where i had little or no time to sit at online , i would have bought from a shop as well. Checking/tracking/waiting etc just for mere 3-4K would not justify. Now even 10Rs lesser than MRP on a 100rs make me happy [evil]
Exactly this what iam saying . Now suppose I want to buy some appliance then I might check in croma and I have nothing to exchange then I will surely go for the online route if there is a good significant price difference .

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

Was hunting L520 for my wifey over weekend. Checked almost everywhere - Univercell, Sangeeta, Ezone, online stores. Response was standard - everybody is running on shortage of stocks and only black color is available! Wonder why Nokia isnt shipping all colors! L520 is targeted as youth affordable and trendy smart phone. Given the scenario, Nokia must ensure availability of all colors. Most of the youth brigade would prefer trendy colors over the traditional black. Looks like finally even I shall end up buying black though wanted a change. Touch disappointed in this regards.

Btw, during the process got an opportunity to check out L720! Man, such a lovely phone it is. Was blown away by display and touch response.

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

@RK
Sir, why you want to sell your 620 in couple of months? for a bigger screen/display ?[;)]

Carfreak,
Bro, do check online if you are interested to save atleast 1,500-2,000Rs. As you said, HS18 also do not have 520 at the moment.
My friend got 520 and he is not facing any problem with camera switch. But, his friend bought one and had camera switch problem. He got a replacement from store as they were aware of the problem. I've read somewhere that one guy had to give to service center and get it repaired than replaced on very second day.

If you are buying offline, check the camera from there itself. If buying online, buy from a place where they have 30 days return etc. (Homeshop, flipkart, yebhi etc etc). Avoid Indiatimes in case of 520 !

"It is really surprising that a mid range Lumia 720 can beat the HTC flagship device on this camera test. Getting a high end smartphone nowadays is really expensive but the Lumia 720 offers most of the high-end smartphone features that you don’t have to pay for more. Lumia 720 is solid but lighter and sexier. Plus you can get a very capable camera which is almost similar to the 920 minus the OIS. Truly, the Lumia 720 is a true value for the money."

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

Seen 720 with Raja yesterday and oh man what a phone man

full black, flat and thin, excellent touch screen response better than 620, no curves on corners , bigger screen and battery

I liked very much, @appus, now you might have understood why I said so, but I will exchange if I get good price for my current phone and I am not very serious about this as do not have any problem with my 620[:)]

I agree with Gurrala the Lumia 720 is a looker looks way more expensive than it actually is. Loved the screen especially. In the looks aspect I feel the 720 beats my HTC One X hollow [cry]

bigger screen and battery
I always wanted you to go for a bigger screen [evil]! Going to 3.8 from 3" or 2.8" always looks great in size. But once you use 4.3"/4.7", you will see a great difference while using the phone (especially browsing/using apps).

Gift that phone to your better half and make her feel special [embarass] [if you are getting less price]. Again - If at all you want to upgrade .

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

Nokia is laser-focused on imaging as a USP for its Lumia range of smartphones. Every senior Nokia executive I met at the Lumia 925 launch in London last week emphasized on imaging. Yes, Nokia has the best music store out there (you get an annual all you can eat music subscription with the phone) and it has the best offline maps, and yet they kept emphasizing on the camera technology. It was only after sitting with Jo Harlow, Nokia’s executive vice president for smartphone business, did I realize why. Nokia is not content with cramming 41-megapixel cameras into its phones, it is planning to do something insane.

It was only on asking Harlow about the next big challenge for Nokia when it came to smartphone photography did I realize what Nokia’s engineers are attempting to do. “If you look at where imaging is going, computational imaging is an area of exploration. Being able to capture even more data — data you cannot even see with the human eye that you can only see by actually going back to the picture and being able to do things with them,” she said.

In other words, we are talking about Lytro-like light field photography where users can click a photo without focussing on anything in particular and later play around with the photographs by being able to focus on any part. In other words, photos remain alive long after they have been clicked.

“I think that is a key challenge to bring to a smartphone because computational imaging or computational photography requires computational power. That was one of the limitations in bringing that kind of experiences on a smartphone. Changes in the processing capabilities of smartphones opens it up as an area of exploration,” Harlow explained.

While it might sound audacious, Nokia is going full-steam ahead with its ambition of bringing computational photography to its Lumia smartphones. Nokia has announced it has invested in Pelican Imaging, which has the technology to bring light field cameras into a relatively slimmer smartphone form factor. Even on the chipset front, Qualcomm’s silicon with Adreno 320 GPU already has the capability to support such features.

On the other end of the spectrum, Nokia is also looking closely at India for its Lumia smartphones. “One of the things that we have done with an eye on India is to build out the portfolio and to have flagship devices that create aspiration but to really pay off that aspiration is to have lower end devices. The Lumia 520 is a great example of that. We will continue to push the boundaries of how low we can take Lumia. That’s one thing. Then, of course, there are things that are currently missing. Dual-SIM is an important one and to be really successful in the Indian market. And that’s something on our radar to bring to the portfolio,” Harlow admitted.
