Hi All,
I currently have a 10 year old Honda Amaze. it looks to be on its last leg from my own driving experience, small niggles here and there and impending suspension, brake replacements that Honda guys have been telling me from last 1 year. When VW Virtus was launched, I had planned to do the upgrade but with the issues reported on both Slavia and Virtus, I decided against that. Now considering my current car might stop working any day, I am considering going ahead with the purchase with a 6 months window.
I did visit a showroom in bangalore to get a general idea of the cost and other relevant details. I will visit few more showrooms and possibly start taking test rides in the coming months. I am still not sure if I need a DSG or not considering that I have never touched an automatic in my life. I do wish to explore that option to have a clear idea of what it would be like.
I do have a concern around the possibility of a facelift for this model. I asked the sales guy in showroom, he was confidently telling that just like polo, there wont be any changes in Virtus, I do not belive that statement but I am in two minds. if there is a possibility of a facelist in next 1 year, I would rather wait and get the newer product than something that is now 2 years old. the other concern is around how much benefit/discount can I bargain. I am not sure what is the best price quoted nowadays.
please let me know if any members have any input on either of these two points.
thanks

If your Driving is primarily in City (Bumper to Bumper Traffic), it is better to stay away from DSG. the 1 L Turbo Petrol is a good engine mated to a 6 Speed Torque Converter AT which has enough power on load. Where the 1.5 DSG shines is the ability to take quick speed in short time and slick shift, which is a true Enthusiast Tuned.

You can even tune the 1L turbo charged engine, to mask the Turbo lag (The Lag is very very negligible, still if you want it to perform outright like DSG, this is one option ).

I think VW has not yet announced any Facelift, and as Sedan markets are quite dying, they don't have any competition. The Features that they will introduce is maybe a better Audio System (Enhanced Screen Size, Connected Tech), maybe a HUD, Reverse Camera was of low quality in VW Virtus. You won't lose much even if you buy now, but if youhave solid source that there is a new launch coming in, you can negotiate 2 months before new launch. As all Enthusiats wait for this time, and the rides get sold like pancake. Remembering Skoda Rapid, VW Polo when it was announced gonna be discontinued.

Personally, I prefer Skoda's design than VW, the Czech design always feels timeless.

thanks for the response. this might be my last petrol car considering the growing trend for EVs, hence I wanted to go for 1.5 TSI which is more performance oriented. Regarding the facelift, I have seen adhoc news somewhere about the facelift eg this one: virtus facelift.
I will be checking skoda slavia as well, but I am mostly inclined towards virtus at this point.

Hi @kromastorm. Welcome aboard! It’d be easier for us to recommend if you share the requirements as per the template in this link.

I had planned to do the upgrade but with the issues reported on both Slavia and Virtus, I decided against that.
What issues are you referring to? I own a Škoda Slavia and might help clarify about some of them. (Škoda Slavia Style 1.0L MT: Ownership Review)

if there is a possibility of a facelist in next 1 year, I would rather wait and get the newer product than something that is now 2 years old.
Škoda Slavia Facelift with cosmetic updates and features like ADAS is expected to debut later this year. There’s no confirmation as such for VW Virtus but eventually it might receive one as well.

the other concern is around how much benefit/discount can I bargain.
If you’re considering the facelift, it’s highly unlikely to negotiate hard on a newly launched car. However, one can fetch tempting deals on an older and pre-facelift stock.
