Hello all,
In this post I am writing about my mercedes genuine horn retrofit and its backstory. I worked as Mercedes benz certified technician in Kerala for 4 years. I liked the windtone type horn of mercedes cars so much that I wish to retrofit in my car but horns were too expensive for me. Then I began investigating with the spare parts guy for different part numbers to know the lowest price. We found out a replacement part of e class 212 which costs rs 1838 per horn which was affordable for me. But the problem is it need a pair couplers for connecting horn to wiring which cost around 3000 for a pair. Then I found that front wind shield mirror heating element coupler of all mercedes cars are same and is available in plenty in the bodyshop as scrap.
So I ordered a pair of horn for my Ignis and retrofitted it.
As ignis already comes with dual horn with 15A fuse and power consumed by stock horns are same no need to install additional wiring kit
