Hyundai I10 "Blue Boy" 31000 Service experience.
I reached the dealership at 9.30 and everyone was quick to attend. Its a small dealership at district place so everything is personal a friendly. I do not miss the professionalism and red-tapism the metros provide with regards to service experience. The owners of Dealership are good friends of mine so I always get attended on priority.
The overall Service experience was pleasant other than the billing system which takes 20 Mins Minimum to complete. The staff said its a standard Hyundai procedure.
Here are the discussions and solutions with regards to my car-
1> 30K is a major service which means ALL oils and fluids will be changed. This includes Engine oil,Brake oil, gearbox oil. All the Filters Like air filter, Fuel filter, Oil filter was changed. Engine coolant was changed as well. Brakes and other stuff was inspected. Engine and Gearbox additive was used (forgot to ask which), which are very expensive. There was usual engine tuning and stuff. The Engine has become very peppy and pickup has increased noticeably even with wider tyres now.
light coming on- ABS
system was checked using a tablet to read the error codes. Wheel speed sensors were checked for all 4 wheels. The SVC suggested to change some ABS
motor which costs 55k!
. Skipped for now, Because I know the ABS
light comes on if vehicle is parked for a long time (Week+) and goes away after a long trips.
3> AC cooling too much-
AC system was checked via thermostat which DID cut at 9.2.C. However I still do feel that AC does cool way too much which means i have to flip the switch manually On-OFF in few kms.
4> Heater not working-
Hyundai does not provide separate heating coils so we are at mercy of Engine temperature. When parked in Sun, which engine revved up and Temperature all the way up- we did register temperature of 38.C at the vents. The AC Should be in OUTSIDE MODE, AC switch OFF, Temperature towards RED.
Frankly the performance is inadequate for Hill stations and simply worthless in Near Zero conditions. The Outside air will be so cold that cabin will actually get colder even if Heater is ON.
Overall the SVC said this is by design and nothing can be done about it.
The above problems are probably due to lack of Climatronic AC.
On my XUV 500, one starts sweating profusely if anything like above is performed when parked in the sun.
5> Rear Power window not working- Power window switch had shorted out and was replaced costing about 400.
6> Gear leather which had crumpled was replaced.
7> Hatch hydraulic Lifters replaced for the cost of about 1.2k. Huge ergonomic benefit as the hatch used to fall down.
8> All the wiper blades replaced, Rear wiper being most expensive costing 700. Front wipers are 250 each.
9> Spark plugs replaced at Rs 300. Appears reasonable.
10> Tyres were replaced to Yokohama earth 1 in sizes 175/70/R13. Handling has improved considerably. A separate review will be posted for the same.
11> Glass buffing could not be completed due to Nightfall, Looking to complete in next visit. This will have to be done at other garages.
12> Reverse Horn not working- Rat had chewed the wires. Taped the same and Horn started working.
13> Bill of charges and labor-
