IMHO both Punto & Linea petrol versions are overpriced.

for eg. Jazz X is priced around 6L while Punto E is 6.54 L. Punto with its archaic 1.4L engine is no match to Jazz (BluenMe notwithstanding).

Most important issue would how much interior quality has improved and how niggle free are the products.

Without that its hard to visualize the tide turning in Fiat's favour.

Difference between Punto Dynamic Petrol and Diesel is Rs. 1,07,000. But the differen between Punto Emotion Petrol and Diesel is is just Rs. 17,000. And also this creates the huge price gap between Punto Petrol Dynamic and Emotion, where this gap is just Rs. 60,000 for Diesel variant. Are you sure the prices are correct?

I think Punto Dynamic petrol has 1.2 L engine while Punto Emotion has got 1.4 L one. That may be the reason (excise benefit not applicable to 1.4L car)

But then why would one buy Punto Petrol Emotion when One can easily pay just 17k more and get Punto Diesel Emotion. I would definitely do the same.
And also Fiat Punto is not famous for it's Petorl engine.

Thats why I felt Punto petrol is overpriced (post 71).

I wish Fiat would have done something similar about improving their sales and service quality. Much as I want to believe otherwise, I just know that Fiat would falter again. And yes, I would love to be proved wrong.

Fiat has launched the updated variants of Grande Punto and Linea. This can be more or less said as an attempt from the manufacturer to make its presence felt in India and also an effort to push the ever declining sales of both the cars. Fiat has reworked on each variant of Punto and Linea in order to make them a better value for money buy. New Fiat Grande Punto 2012 comes with an increased ground clearance of 195MM to suit the Indian road conditions, revised air conditioning which is said to be tested thoroughly in hot location like Rajasthan where the temperature stays above 45 degree Celsius in the noon. The car also features slightly revised upholstery of lighter shade.

The following features are now standard across the Punto range:

- Power Steering
- Rear Parcel Shelf
- Central Door Locking
- Internally Adjustable ORVMs
- Tilt Adjustable Steering Wheel
- Power Windows with Delay Feature
- Integrated MP3 System with 4 Speakers
- Speed Sensitive Volume Adjuster for Audio System

Speaking on the other hand about Fiat Linea 2012 – This is the car in Fiat’s stable which has received some noteworthy additions such as rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, power windows with auto down and delay feature etc. while the remaining additions as seen on the Punto 2012 like improved Ground Clearance (185MM), Brighter Dual Tone Interiors, Powerful Air-conditioning, improved sound proofing for Diesel versions in the cabin, just come as a bonus.

The following features are now standard across the Linea range:

- Rear Defogger
- Automatic Door Locks
- Remote Keyless Entry
- Integrated Audio System
- Follow Me Home Headlamps
- Electrically Adjustable ORVMs

Apart from this, Fiat has also introduced a new colour shade for both the cars, known as “Oceanic Blue”.

Now, Here is the complete Ex.Showroom, Delhi price list of Fiat Punto and Linea 2012:

Fiat Punto 2012 Petrol:

- Active: Rs. 4.81 lakh
- Dynamic: Rs. 5.04 lakh
- Emotion: Rs. 6.54 lakh

Fiat Punto 2012 Diesel:

- Active: Rs. 5.48 lakh
- Dynamic: Rs. 6.11 lakh
- Emotion: Rs. 6.71 lakh

Fiat Linea 2012 Petrol:

- Active: Rs 6.84 lakh
- Dynamic: Rs. 7.81 lakh

Fiat Linea 2012 Diesel:

- Active: Rs 7.84Lakh
- Dynamic: Rs. 8.84 lakh
- Emotion: Rs. 9.10 lakh

Petrols are gone case- way overpriced and technologically laggard.

But diesels are not so: Punto Dynamic at 6.11 L looks VFM. Lets see how market reacts to it. Hope Fiat will start a good media campaign about these models.

Q) You have opened up the Fiat Cafe at Janpath. But the road will soon be closed for next 2 Years due to the construction of Delhi Metro. So how will people reach at Cafe?

- Mr.Rajeev Kapoor (With a smile): Yes. The road will be closed for next 2 Years but as soon as the construction is complete - The outcome will be very positive. It will draw a lot more people to the Fiat Cafe. As far as the present situation is concerned, if some one is really passionate, he can still definitely reach at the cafe.

Q) Do you have any plans to provide Fiat Cars to manufacturer like Maruti Suzuki? ()

- No, we do not have any plans as such for future (Media persons laughing).

Q) Do you think these minor upgrades will work for Fiat? What are your sales target?

- Yes. These are useful upgrades which are going to help the company. We can not provide specific numbers set for sales target. But you will eventually yourself notice as they happen to rise.
