However, Hyundai Kona has this covered, as it can run a staggering 452 km on full charge. Even if we take a discounted range of 300 kms, it will more than suffice for intra-city drives. Also with electric (unlike petrol/diesel), city drive will give better mileage

Hyundai Kona Electric: How Does It Get Charged
With every purchase of the Kona Electric, Hyundai will also provide the customer with a 7.2 kW AC wall box charger that can charge the car fully in 6 hours 10 minutes. It can be installed either at home or office. If the customer wants, Hyundai can provide an extra wall charger as well. The cost of the wall charger will be somewhere between ₹ 70,000 to ₹ 1 lakh. The AC wall box charger can top up the charge in the vehicle for a range of 50 kilometres in just one hour.
Finally, each Hyundai Kona Electric also gets a 2.8 kW portable charger, which can be directly plugged into your regular 15 ampere socket and it will take about 19 hours to fully charge the car after it is fully discharged. This charger can top up daily running of 50Kms in less than 3 hours.

Hyundai Kona Electric price could drop by up to Rs 1.40 lakh with GST reduction
The Hyundai Kona Electric has gone on sale in India at an introductory price of Rs 25.30 lakh (ex-showroom). While that is a lot of money, the Kona Electric could see a drop in price of up to Rs 1.40 lakh in the weeks to come.
Kona Electric buyers could get another boost with the government’s proposal to offer benefits in the form of deductions of up to Rs 1.5 lakh from taxable income on the interest payable on loans taken for EV purchase.

Hyundai Kona Electric SUV Suddenly Explodes Causing Big Damage
While the causes of the Hyundai Kona Electric’s explosion in Canada are yet unknown, the owner claims it wasn’t put on charging socket during the incident
A guy named Piero Cosentino purchased his Kona EV in the third month of 2019. This past Saturday, July 26, he heard an explosive sound and the fire alarm went off when he was on for lunch. He immediately turned off the breaker as his first instinct was to go out and run outside so he did not have to open the doors and feed the fire. Using a garden hose, he began trying to put off the fire before the firefighters arrive.
The damage caused by the explosion was so much that it set his garage door to the other side of the door and portion of the roof was severely affected. It took about thirty men to bring the fire under control after a long fight. Louise Desrosiers, a Division Chief of Montreal Fire Department, said he found no possible cause of the fire.

Hyundai Kona Electric to get a facelift next year - Report
The report says that the Hyundai Kona Electric will not get significant design changes. It will get a bigger, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system in place of the existing, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, though. The new unit will have a split function and display real-time energy consumption.
In terms of mechanicals, the 2021 Kona Electric will be equipped with a heat pump in order to maintain uniform battery performance while driving in cold weather as standard. The battery capacity will be the same (39.2 kWh or 64 kWh).

Hyundai Kona Electric SUV has entered the Guinness World Records under the category of 'Highest Altitude Achieved in an Electric Car'. It became the first Made-in-India electric SUV to be driven to an altitude of 5,731 meters to Sawula Pass in Tibet, beating the previous record of 5,715.28 meters altitude achieved by the Nio ES80. The carmaker says that for the entire duration of the drive, the Hyundai Kona Electric was charged using the standard portable charger provided along with the vehicle. Hyundai claims that there were no performance issues while climbing the peaks, while the car's smart power regeneration system also came in handy while descending from the peaks.

2020 Hyundai Kona facelift ushers in new look
Hyundai has revealed a heavily facelifted Kona, complete with a sporty N Line trim level. A new front grille is the highlight of the external revisions; it’s joined by a reshaped bumper, slimmer LED running lights and new-look headlights lower down. Around the back, the tail-light signatures have been updated and there’s a slight redesign of the rear bumper.
Hyundai has revealed a heavily facelifted Kona, complete with a sporty N Line trim level. A new front grille is the highlight of the external revisions; it’s joined by a reshaped bumper, slimmer LED running lights and new-look headlights lower down. Around the back, the tail-light signatures have been updated and there’s a slight redesign of the rear bumper.
Inside, design changes are limited to a redesigned centre console, an electronic parking brake and new trim elements. There’s also new technology. A 10.25-inch digital instrument panel is available on the Kona for the first time, lifted from the new i20 supermini. Also, the car’s standard touchscreen has been expanded from seven to eight inches and gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; driver-assistance features have been updated to the brand’s latest standard.
The new range-topping petrol variant uses a 1.6-litre turbocharged T-GDI four-cylinder engine with 195bhp and sends drive to the front wheels or all four via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, 48-volt mild-hybrid technology features with the 1.6-litre 134bhp diesel engine, which gets a seven-speed automatic gearbox or six-speed manual transmission. A 118bhp 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine is also available, with or without mild-hybrid assistance.
The Kona Hybrid, introduced last year, also adopts the new styling and continues to use a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 32kW electric motor and a 1.56kWh battery. The Kona Electric is set to make a return, too.
The new N Line trim adds an aggressive front bumper with a front lip and wide fins, plus a new grille with N Line badging and three air slits ahead of the bonnet. The black plastic body cladding becomes body-coloured, there are unique, 18-inch alloy wheels and, at the rear, a spoiler, a bumper with a diffuser element and twin exhaust pipes. Inside, aluminium pedals and red accents complete the look.
The Kona N Line will be available with all engines except the base 1.0-litre petrol. The new Kona goes on sale towards the end of 2020, with the Hybrid due early in 2021. Prices start from around £19,000.
Hot Kona N to follow
The new N Line version isn’t as hot as the Kona gets. A fully fledged performance variant, the Kona N, is in the offing. Due in 2021 and already spied testing, it’ll provide competition for the likes of the Audi SQ2 while borrowing power from the Hyundai i30 N. That means a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol with 247bhp.
