Got my VIN today.. It is MAT623226ELN26972. I could see that 'E' denotes 2014 as year of manufacture. But what about 'N'?? As per my understanding, 'M' would be the last character denoting December. I saw the delivery list with ASM slated for Nov and all of them had ELN in them. Please help me understand this.

I have booked ZEST QJT XT on 21st November,14. As per SA, expected delivery was 25 December,14 but one fine day I got a call from SA saying, TML has allocated vehicle to me and I would be getting delivery by 6th December. , He then asked me to do down payment. So, I asked him VIN & chassis number of allocated vehicle before giving remaining amount. He has given me VIN whose 12 character is N. So quite surprised by quick delivery and VIN number. So,can somebody give me update on VIN number decoding? I got VIN number, whose 12th character is "N". As per my understanding , "M" is the last character for December, then how does this "N" came at 12th position.
Did TATA made any changes in VIN coding ? Is there anybody who got such a VIN number?

i need one more clearence;

The VIN code i find for my ZEST is MAT XXXXXXELNXXXXX .

The 10 character is E which denotes the year 2014.
For the 12 character which is N, i can't find the corresponding month(i refered the pdi form present by team bhp, which mentioned that the twelfth VIN character from A TO M refers for the months from Jan to Dec )

pl let me know whether If there any updates on this issue?

N refers to November month as per new tata Vin format. Cheers mate.
 
I booked tata Zest on dec 31. now when i asked for bill, i saw VIN number written as
MAT623227ELD34290

some where on the forum i read that 12th digit "D" means April. But when i asked same question to dealer he says "d" means december. Now iam confused, he says your car is in transit and truck will arrive on jan7. What to do ? i have paid full amount on dec31 to get 333 confidence offer.
