Would You Trade Your Car in Exchange of Lifetime Free Public Transport?

A better solution would be like Singapore. Public transport is good and Taxes on cars are high. However you can buy a car at a lower price with a different registration. This can only be used on weekends. If you need to use this car on a weekday, you have to buy a pass.

For Daily commute I will prefer paid Public transport, Provided it is managed to the expectation, But No question of exchanging the car its like divorcing the better half!

Recently, I traveled in Delhi metro and man it was crowded as if they are running free service. I mean people from Mumbai or commuters in Mumbai using local trains would be able to understand how crowded trains actually are. The only saving grace was, there were doors to protect and compartments were centrally air-conditioned.

I do not think, anybody in here would like to leave his car for such a state for public transport system. Govt. is I guess doing there bit but population is not allowing anything on this front happen the way it should be.
