No technical reason as such.

It is only for aesthetics.

Maybe to make them look more upmarket.
After installing dark tints they look like there is no pillar if seen from some distance..

There is no technical reason behind it. It is just another method to aesthetically improve the distinctness of the car. Also it’s not limited to premium cars anymore. Most of the regular cars, including hatchbacks, have adopted this feature.
