from what i know tata has a majority stake at JLR . that is different from the word owned i guess.

the case of owned relates better with daewoo where the trucking division is owned by tata whereas their passenger cars section is owned by GM namely chevrolet. the matiz is the chevy spark whereas the daewoo nibura was the chevy optra.

similarly GM has many local brands under their roof. holden is one such company whose captiva manufactured primarily for australia is sold as chevy captiva.

I think fiat doesn't deserve a mention here as none is doing well.
Fiat owns Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Jeep & Chrysler.

Tata does own them.

ford owns volvo , jaguar , land rover , mazda , aston martin.
List needs to be updated. Many are not owned by ford anymore.

VW owns ducatti , bentley , buggatti , lamborghini , porsche , seat and skoda
Actually Ducati is owned by Audi but Audi itself is owned by VW.

Kawasaki Owned by Bajaj Auto,
Are you sure? I think it's just a tie up.

Bharat Benz owned by Daimler AG,KTM,Kawasaki Owned by Bajaj Auto,Reva,Sangyong Owned by Mahindra.
Dear hastir265,

Bajaj has a tie up with Kawasaki for some technolgy transfer.

Bajaj is owning 47% shares in KTM. As per Rajiv Bajaj, they don't have any plans to own majority share in KTM.

Bharat Benz was not a separate company. Daimler started truck manufacturing in India with this name. (It is like telling Volkswagen India is owned by Volkswagen)
