I don’t want to get into Skoda debate though, but Skoda is not such a bad company as it has been termed recently, that too only on internet. They’re a renowned carmaker worldwide and just taking the example you have cited, into consideration,
+1

And the only thing VW would be doing by borrowing the Wagon-R platform is ruining their reputation. suzuki makes small cars and is nowhere near Skoda in quality levels.

They’re a renowned carmaker worldwide and just taking the example you have cited, into consideration, we all know Wagon–R is certainly a great car, but declining it just because it’d wear a badge of “another company” which has been made to appear bad would be utter biasness.
All I was saying was that seeing a car of one badge running under that of another is peculiar. Skoda is renowned for its build and interior quality. The WagonR doesn't quite hit that spot. Besides, the WagonR is trusted for its good Afss, while Skoda is another story.

Probably you are aware that Wagon R & Splash (Ritz) are sold by OPEL as well under the brand engineering scheme. Suzuki's built quality is in par with Skoda. Skoda had a very bad reputation (even compare to Hyundai) until recently. It took a while for VW to re-establish the image for Skoda which they have done through improving the quality and expanding the ASS.

In Scandinavia there is funny tale on Skoda. It goes on like on guy went to the police station to report the car theft. The police started taking the report and when they found that it was a Skoda, they charged the guy for wasting police's time [;)]
