Volkswagen's New E-Scooter - Pictures

In a surprise move, Volkswagen has introduced the E-Scooter concept at Auto Shanghai 2011. Envisioned as a personal mobility device for megacities, the concept features a nickel-metal hydride battery which sends power to a 350 watt electric motor. This setup enables the bike to hit a top speed of approximately 48 km/h (30 mph) and travel up to 40 km (25 miles) on a single charge. While the E-Scooter is technically a concept, Volkswagen is considering a production model that could rented at transport hubs and city centers. (source - wcf)

Looks great - but only as a concept. Anyhow, it's interesting to watch manufacturers like Volkswagen trying out capturing different segments of the market.

thats cause every manufacturer have seen the potential of asian market for two wheelers as well as four wheelers, so why not stake in another segment as well.

their concept is great but looks ordinary and not stylish..it will be very good news for all scooter buyers if they launch it here at affrodable price (i mean not like their cars) and with better design!!
