Re: Vijay Super Mark 2 Restoration and Innovation

I was always looking for a Vijai Super all my life & One fine day I came across this beautiful lady lying in a scrapyard! It has lot of my childhood memories & my dad was a mechanic long back whose specialisation was lambretta's :)
Finally I bought the scooter after thorough analysis! There are lot of minor cosmetic parts missing from the scooter... but a major problem I'm facing is that the CARBURETTOR is missing
I've tried every local vendors in my area to source the carbs, but couldn't find it anywhere..

Could somebody please help me source the carburettor?

Congratulations in your new buy. There were 2 types of carburetors that came on the Vijai Super. Which year was your scooter manufactured? Would you be able to share a few pictures here? I can help you with contacts in Delhi for all your Vijai Super restoration needs.

Re: Vijay Super Mark 2 Restoration and Innovation

Thank you sir! It's a 1980 model, dad told it was running on mikarb type carburettors. For now I'm using a carburettor that I found in a scrapyard, works fine but not good enough...
I've attached couple of photos for your reference, right now the paint job is in progress ☺️☺️

It would be great if you could restore it to original as your childhood memories.
But to my view a matt black finish with some chrome garnish will enhance look and also will maintain the classic feeling.

Hey, Congratulations Mandar.
Sharadha Auto parts at Nanapet stocks parts at decent pricing.
However I would recommend to buy from Delhi, if you have a friend or relative who can buy and ship it for you.
Which year was your scooter manufactured?
Please share some pictures.

the scoot has been lying like this for quite some time for lack of parts and lack of interest from my dad regarding the repairs which will be done by myself. he is not that confident that i will be able to do it[;)].

but will be starting the work as soon as i get some time from the daily chores.

thanks

Fantastic. This is an original piece. Was it repainted once or is it on company paint?
If it had been standing for a long time, check if fuel tank has rust. Also check flow from fuel tap. The carburetor in your scooter should be a Micarb one, that looks similar to old bullet carburetor. So the packing kit, float and float needle are one and the same. The venturi size and jets are different though. You may also make use of the Old RE Electra model's 'L' hose that connects the filter box with resonator, for the Vijai carburetor air hose. Install a new spark plug. Mico W5DC or W165Z2 are the right specs. Else buy a Maruti 800 spark plug and reduce the gap to 0.5mm and install it.
Hold the clutch wire and kick pedal a few times to free up the clutch. Let 3-4 drops of 2T oil or any clean oil into the spark plug hole and kick the pedal a few times.
Check for spark from the plug before installing.
With new petrol (oil mixed), the engine should come up to life in a few kicks.
All the best.

illango,
sorry for a really late reply was little bit disconnected with the forum.

regarding the scoot,
1. this is the original piece which came from the factory
2. the paint is the factory paint.

3. is there any fluid/chemical/any process for removing the tank rust.
4. also in serious need for the Silent Block Bushes. would like to know the source and the price for it.
5. where to get the tools for the lambretta i.e. all the tools for repairing the scoot.

The scooter looks in good shape Mandar. If the RTO authorities permit leaving the old paint as it is, you give it a rubbing polish and top it up with a coat of wax. Tank rust is a perennial problem with Lambretta family scooters. I got my tank epoxy coated, you may check with your local two wheeler or 3 wheeler mechanics to locate someone who can do it in your tank.
The unique tools required for repairing Lambrettas are the clutch compressor & fork spring compressor. Are you using the scooter often?

You may find enough info from the below link to fabricate the tools unique to Lambretta / Lamby / Vijai.

1962 Lambretta TV 175 Restoration: The Jim McClenaghan Lambretta Tool Set
I got my clutch compressor made referring to the drawings in the above link. The dimensions are perfect.

i want some help and its kind of URGENT.

I need to replace the silent blocks of my vijai super.
does anybody have the silent block tool here in Pune.
also what is the length of the engine mounting bolt and its thread length. the length of the bolt should be for the "WIDE TYPE SILENT BLOCKS". i think it is 290mm in length.
