Race-spec Apache RR 310 to debut in the TVS One Make Championship RR 310

Bangalore, June 06, 2018: TVS Racing, the factory racing arm of TVS Motor Company, is geared up for the 2018 season of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC), starting on June 08 at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore. The team is participating in two competitive categories this season, Group B – Super Sport category and Group C – Pro-Stock category both under 165 cc segment.

TVS Racing will also flag off the first edition of TVS One Make Championship RR 310 in the open category, which will see the introduction of the race-spec Apache RR 310. The team will also field the new, race-tuned Apache RTR 200 Race Edition 2.0 in the TVS One Make Novice category, the TVS Ladies One Make Series and the TVS Young Media Racer Series. The TVS Racing riders in the Group B & C categories will be racing on the TVS Apache GP 165 R motorcycle.

Commenting on the upcoming season, Mr. B Selvaraj, Team Manager, TVS Racing said, “We, at TVS Racing, are looking forward to the new season of INRMC. The last season was extremely good for us with our champion rider Jagan Kumar scoring a double hat-trick of championship titles. Also, we won the team and manufacturer championship in Super Sport Indian up to 165cc category. We hope to continue our good form and the first race will be crucial to set the momentum for the rest of the season. The TVS One Make Series is also exciting this year with the inclusion of the TVS One Make Championship RR 310 and the introduction of the race-spec Apache RR 310 and the new Apache RTR 200 Race Edition 2.0.”

Apache RR One Make Series

The TVS One Make Championship RR 310 will see 12 racers in the open category competing for the Championship over five rounds. They will be riding the race-spec Apache RR 310 that is equipped with a race-tuned exhaust, improved induction system; specially mapped Electronic Control Unit and modified foot- peg to provide race ergonomics. The race-tuned motorcycle gets a 313cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 38 PS@10300 rpm. The engine is fitted with fuel injection system with 40mm Throttle body. The motorcycle boasts of a top speed of 175 kmph and uses a unique reverse inclined DOHC (double overhead cam) engine with LCOC (liquid-cooled oil coolant) technology.

TVS One Make Series (Novice Category & Ladies One Make Series)

The TVS One Make Series will see 16 racers competing in the novice category and 16 racers competing in the Ladies One Make Series. The machines they will be riding is the new Apache RTR 200 Race Edition 2.0 powered by a 4 Stroke, Single cylinder, Oil Cooled, 4 Valve engine with a power of 24PS @ 9300 rpm. It boasts a top speed of 145 kmph and uses 17-inch Pirelli tyres with hydraulic dampers. The race machine will now be equipped with Slipper clutch, a modified cam shaft, a retuned front and rear shocks, race-tuned intake and exhaust system, retuned carburetor and optimized ignition system.

The Championship will also witness the second edition of TVS Young Media Racer Program where 11 journalists will race astride the new Apache RTR 200 Race Edition 2.0 for the three rounds of INMRC.

Coimbatore, June 8: Reigning National champion Jagan Kumar of TVS Racing set the benchmark in the premier Super Sport Indian (165cc, Open) class by topping the time sheets in free practice session as the Rolon Round of the MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship commenced at the Kari Motor Speedway, here on Friday.

Jagan, who notched his sixth consecutive National title last year, displayed good form as he clocked a best of one minute, 12.686 seconds, ahead of TVS Racing team-mates Deepak Ravikumar (01:12.959) and KY Ahamed (01:13.449).

Also among the quicker riders of the day was Prabhu Arunagiri of Team Alisha Abdullah who topped the Pro-Stock 301-400cc class practice session with a 01:12.698, while last year’s winner in this category Amarnath Menon (Gusto Racing India) was the fourth (01:13.503) behind team-mate Satyanarayana Raju (01:12.923) and Faraz Shariff (01:13.468), a private entrant from Bengaluru.

In the Pro-Stock (165cc) class, Anup Kumar (Team Alisha Abdullah) was the quickest with a timing of 01:15.959), well ahead of Anish Shetty (Honda Ten10 Racing, 01:17.592) and Kevin Kannan (Rockers Racing, 01:17.825).

Meanwhile, in the girls championship (Stock 165cc), Ann Jennifer clocked 01:25.797 to top the practice session in this category while last year’s first runner-up Ryhana Bee was second fastest in 01:26.353 with Shruthi Nagarajan coming in third at 01:26.873.

TVS One-Make Championship – Novice (Batch 1): 1. Karthik Mateti (Hyderabad) (01min, 22.796secs); 2. A S Alexander (Chennai) (01:24.616); 3. Suhail Ahamed (Chennai) (01:25.432). Batch 2: 1. Mohamed Shafin (Kerala) (01:25.075); 2. Kesavan S (Chennai) (01:25.405); 3. Suneeth SR (Bengaluru) (01:25.802).

Bangalore, June 11, 2018: TVS Racing, the factory racing arm of TVS Motor Company, began the 2018 season of Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) on a high note with KY Ahamed clinching double victory in the Super Sport 165 Group B category held at Kari Motor Speedway (Coimbatore).

Race 1 saw Ahamed battle it out with his mentor and national champion Jagan Kumar and win the race despite the wet race conditions. He continued his strong form in Race 2 clinching the top spot on the podium with TVS Racing’s Deepak Ravikumar taking second place. Jagan clocked a new lap record time (1 min 11.596 sec) at KMS, Coimbatore.

Commenting on his stellar performance, KY Ahamed, Racer, TVS Racing said, “I have been working hard for this victory and a double win makes it even more special. I would like to dedicate the wins to everyone in my team, well-wishers and especially to Jagan, who has always supported and mentored me. I hope I can keep performing consistently for the rest of the season.”

B Selvaraj, Team Manager, TVS Racing says, “We were looking to make a solid start to the championship and Ahamed’s perfect performance in Coimbatore has given us the right momentum. The team has always believed in Ahamed’s skills and backed his ability to win races. Over the past 3 years, I have seen him evolve as a racer and his dedication to the sport coupled with discipline has led him to these victories. We congratulate our six-time national champion rider – K. Jagan, for the new lap record. Deepak’s performance is commendable on his first run with the RTR 165 machine. I appreciate the hard work put in by the technicians and crew, which resulted in the positive outcome of Round 1.”

The TVS One Make Championship, hosted on the sidelines of INMRC was also held over this race weekend. The TVS One Make Championship Novice Category was won by Karthik Mateti, followed by Mohamed Shafin and AS Alexander. The TVS One Make Championship Ladies Category saw Ryhana Bee secure the podium followed by Ann Jennifer and RV Czimkay.

The Coimbatore edition of INMRC also saw the introduction of TVS One Make Championship RR 310 with the race spec Apache RR 310 making its track debut. Deepak Ravikumar took the lead in this Championship followed by S Sivanesan at P2 and Peddu Sri Harsha at P3. The TVS Young Media Racer Program, in its second edition, saw Gavin Rodrigues (Motorbeam) finish on top followed by Stephen Neil (DriveSpark) at P2 and Shahnawaz Karim (Wheelsguru) at P3.

The next round of INMRC will be held at MMRT, Chennai from July 6-8, 2018.
