Hyundai Tucson ABS Recall Affects 797,000 SUVs

hyundai-tucson-abs-recall-250.png

A Hyundai Tucson ABS recall includes nearly 797,000 SUVs that shouldn't be parked near anything that could burn, at least not until the 40-amp ABS module fuses are replaced with 25-amp versions.

The 2016-2021 Hyundai Tucson ABS (anti-lock braking system) recall is necessary because the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU) may corrode and cause an electrical short-circuit and an engine compartment fire.

Ford To Recall 3 Million Vehicles For Airbags At $610 Million Cost In The US

Ford Motor Co said on Thursday it will recall 3 million vehicles for air bag inflators that could rupture, at a cost of $610 million. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Tuesday ordered Ford to issue the recall for driver-side air bag inflators, rejecting the automaker's 2017 petition to avoid it.

The defect, which in rare instances leads to air bag inflators rupturing and sending potentially deadly metal fragments flying, prompted the largest automotive recall in U.S. history of more than 67 million inflators. Worldwide, about 100 million inflators installed by 19 major automakers have been recalled.

New Kia Sorento recalled for eCall system update

2020 Kia Sorento.jpg

Kia has issued a recall for all new Sorento models built between the 1 September and 14 December 2020, regarding an issue with the SUV’s SOS call system.

Normally, when an eCall equipped car is involved in an accident, the system transmits the car’s VIN to an emergency call centre, which can then dispatch the local emergency services to the scene. However, Kia found that, if one of the Sorento’s airbags is deployed in the accident, the car’s SOS function wouldn’t contact the emergency call centre, potentially leaving the driver stranded.

The issue affects 965 cars sold in the UK – and Kia is currently contacting affected owners with the request that they return their cars to their local dealership for remedial action. The fix will be applied at no cost to the owner.

Kia says the issue should be quick to remedy, with only a minor software tweak required to get the SOS function working properly. The update will take around half an hour but, due to social distancing protocols, Kia says customers should allocate up to an hour for the work.

Tesla To Recall 135,000 U.S. Vehicles Under Pressure From Auto Safety Regulators

Tesla Inc has agreed to recall 134,951 Model S and Model X vehicles with touchscreen displays that could fail and raise the risk of a crash after U.S. auto safety regulators sought the recall last month, according to a recall posted on a government website Tuesday.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) made the unusual recall request in a formal Jan. 13 letter to Tesla, saying it had tentatively concluded the 2012-2018 Model S and 2016-2018 Model X vehicles pose a safety issue. Automakers usually agree to voluntary fixes before the auto safety agency formally seeks a recall.

Kia Recalls 308,000 Vehicles for Fire Risk, Tells Owners to Park Outside

2021-kia-sportage-mmp-1-1601580353.jpg?crop=0.782xw:0.659xh;0.0867xw,0.jpg

Kia has issued a recall for 379,931 of its vehicles, including the 2017 to 2019 Cadenza sedan and the 2017 to 2021 Sportage due to the risk of an electric short-circuit in the engine compartment leading to a fire, according to documents on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website. Kia recommends that before owners are able to get the affected part replaced, they should park their vehicles outside and away from structures. Kia Cadenza and Sportage owners can check the NHTSA recalls website to find out if their vehicle is affected.

Hyundai Recalls 95,000 Genesis Sedans, G80 for Possible Fire Risk

2020-genesis-g80-mmp-1-1572624152.jpg?crop=0.844xw:0.712xh;0.0697xw,0.jpg

Hyundai has issued a recall for 94,646 of its sedans due to the risk of a fire starting from the anti-lock-brake (ABS) system module. The recall includes the 2015–2016 Hyundai Genesis sedan as well as the 2017–2020 Genesis G80.

According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the fire can start as a result of an electrical short in ABS module; the fire can start both while the sedans are parked or being driven. Currently, Hyundai is investigating the cause of the short circuit in the ABS module. Hyundai told NHTSA that no resulting crashes or injuries have been reported and that, as of March 10, there have been two related vehicle fires in the U.S. confirmed and none in other countries.

Tesla Recalls Nearly 6,000 U.S. Cars Over Potentially Loose Bolts

Tesla Inc is recalling nearly 6,000 U.S. vehicles because brake caliper bolts could be loose, with the potential to cause a loss of tire pressure, documents made public on Wednesday show.

The recall covers certain 2019-2021 Model 3 vehicles and 2020-2021 Model Y vehicles. Tesla's filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said it had no reports of crashes or injuries related to the issue and that the company will inspect and tighten, or replace, the caliper bolts as necessary.

General Motors Vehicles Recalled For Airbag Warning Lights

More than 301,000 General Motors vehicles are recalled because the airbag warning lights may stay illuminated and fail to provide warnings if the airbags fail.
However, the warning lights stay activated only on alternating ignition cycles in these
vehicles.
  • 2021 Buick Envision
  • 2021 Cadillac CT4
  • 2021 Cadillac CT5
  • 2021 Cadillac Escalade
  • 2021 Cadillac Escalade
  • 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe
  • 2021 Chevrolet Corvette
  • 2021 Chevrolet Suburban
  • 2021 GMC Yukon
  • 2021 GMC Yukon XL
The airbag warning light stays illuminated because the communications gateway module incorrectly processes a loss of communication with the sensing diagnostic module.
GM learned in April about a possible problem and in May engineers opened an investigation to review field and warranty data, finding 19 warranty claims possibly related. This caused GM to issue the recall, but the automaker says it's unaware of any crash or injury reports.

The U.S. GM recall includes 285,622 vehicles while in Canada about 16,071 GM vehicles are recalled.

Recall notices will be mailed July 19, 2021, with details about dealerships updating the communications gateway module software.

Owners who have accepted the terms and conditions will be able to receive the software changes using wireless over-the-air (OTA) technology without having to bring their vehicles to dealerships.

However, owners may schedule to have the updates performed at GM dealers.

Buick owners may contact Buick customer service at 800-521-7300, Cadillac customers may call 800-458-8006, Chevrolet owners can call 800-222-1020 or GMC customer service can be reached at 800-462-8782.

GM's recall reference number is N212338110.
