January 2020 Continued.

Installation. That silicon cover has been in duty since some 2017, started showing it age. Gear boot was an eyesore.

View attachment 273376 View attachment 273377

Loosened the knob with pipe wrench and removed with some jerks.

View attachment 273378

Confused as to what to do with the boot.

View attachment 273379

Decides to test my stitching skills [lol] (Majority of the time was spent on YouTube on how to fix the sewing machine [confused])

View attachment 273380

Version 1. Material left over from what we bought for FZ's seat cover many years back. Quick rough work, but turned out better than what I expected.

View attachment 273381

Installed knob and new boot. Perfect for a rookie [evil]

View attachment 273382 View attachment 273383

But not, was bit short in length on the front, causing too much stress in 2nd and Reverse, gradually had to loosen up the top cable tie.

View attachment 273384

(January)/March 2020:

After version 1, declared fail, started version 2.

More threads. Emptied mom's stock.

2020-01-26 11-27-24.jpg

Improvised 2.1 with a more taper profile. Didn't materialize as screwed up while stitching. 95% done, cross stitched while finishing the neck.

2020-01-26 11-35-26.jpg

Version 3. Same as version 2.1.

2020-03-30 20-04-54.jpg

Successfully finished and installed. Perfect length.

2020-03-31 08-23-07.jpg

Hammered the knob into place. It loosely fit for redoing the boot.

2020-03-31 08-23-14.jpg

Incidental finding, some radio channels showed ID3 tags. Red FM 98.3.

Mended the broken vanity mirror. First the mirror cover came off, then the mirror itself fell off. It was lying in the glovebox for over a year, irritatingly rattling. It had a plastic tab holding the cover, which was broken. Drilled a 2 mm hole and fixed with a screw.

Visor back without the mirror. Cut off the excess material covering the frame.

Superglued into place. Two of the four tabs holding it were broken.

Washed off in a rain drive. Still running with multicolored wheels. Paint shops are open, but no time to go.

2020-04-30 16-33-57.jpg

Proper late night wash.

2020-05-01 21-31-20.jpg

Rear wheel had a faulty valve because of which pressure was dropping and had to top up daily. None of the small puncture shops had the valve in stock. Finally, Tire Club opened once there was relaxation. Changed it there. ₹ 150 for valve including replacement.

2020-04-23 10-37-12.jpg

Some generic valve.

2020-04-24 08-43-37.jpg

Noted the suspension stopper was gone again. Last changed in 2017. The foam I stuck in 2017 to reduce the noise before replacement is still there in the bottom [lol]No one including me and the Chevy dealer bothered to remove it. [frustration]

Ordered the Radiator Lower Air Baffle / Front Bumper Lower Fascia Cover from Boodmo in March. (COVID) Delay in shipment caused it to arrive just the night before lockdown at the (Dotzot) courier facility in town. Sat there for 45 days before courier services were allowed to operate after lockdown. And this is how it looked when delivered. No worries.

Bought rear suspension stopper or bumper whatever they call it. It was available at dealership, Deedi Motors and insisted on buying as a pair. Due to Corona-ry vitamin M deficiency, just bought one instead.

Three clips, two of the snaps on the fascia cover itself.

These four holes to be secured to the fascia cover.

2020-05-14 14-52-05.jpg

Bought M5 bolts. ₹ 6.00/each (came as set with nut and washers). Didn't have enough length to reach the nut spring.

2020-05-14 15-25-54.jpg

Got longer bolts. These came for air filter covers of most bikes. ₹ 6.00/each.

May 2020: More Corona'ry troubles.

A flat tyre.

2020-05-22 16-50-24.jpg

Checked for leak and it was leaking everywhere [sad] Bead leak. It was a 2014 tyre and high time needing replacement. Vitamin M [thumbsdown]

2020-05-22 17-04-01.jpg

Another incidental finding. A-pillar sticker on right side, but not on left side. Checked with delivery time pictures and wasn't there since then.

May 2020: Corona'ry wash and inviting troubles - New Season

Lazy Sunday after a gap of extended shifts. Decided to do an in-depth cleaning. Vacuumed inside out and cleaned interiors.

Two piece.

More made in Korea parts. Dongyang wiper motor.

Lavishly pressure washed and cleaned.

Found a hole and smelt the first trouble. It was AC intake and it was flooded [frustration] Removed the cabin filter. Dried and installed back.

More troubles to continue ...

Washed the bonnet as usual.

2020-05-24 20-36-39.jpg

Point-blank pressure wash on alloys and it turned pink [lol]

2020-05-24 20-53-28.jpg

Quick patch. Black is better than pink [frustration]

2020-05-24 21-09-31.jpg

2020-05-24 21-04-49.jpg

Then I noticed the fog lamps were ON.

Popped hood and pulled fuse and [roll]

Only positive thing happened was tightening the antenna, which got loose with frequent covering and uncovering. It was easily accessible from behind the dome light.

June 2020 - Fixing'em up.

Summer rains began with June.

2020-06-05 16-11-56 1.jpg

Painted the partially pink wheel with left over gloss black. Luckily it worked without peeling of the existing paint like last time.

2020-06-09 16-33-02.jpg

A little bit left in the can and the car was like one black and one gold each side. Another googly moment.

2020-06-09 16-36-13.jpg
2020-06-09 16-36-29.jpg

Ran to the hardware store. Luckily there was gloss black available. But was sceptical about the reaction of Nippon paint on the old ugly gold colour.

2020-06-09 17-31-50.jpg

Sprayed part by part with little quantity. Voila and it worked. Painted the chrome lug nuts as well as it looked odd on black, it will peel off for sure. Over sprayed on caliper. Would either clean it up or paint it nickel or JCB yellow.

2020-06-10 09-01-13.jpg

2020-06-09 17-31-11.jpg

Finally all black.

2020-06-09 17-28-28.jpg
2020-06-09 17-28-52.jpg

The outcome.

2020-06-10 13-17-18 (2).jpg

Fog lamp issue also sorted. It was blown relay. Replaced with a Roots relay lying around. Changed fuse with 10A since 15A was overkill. Each bulb draws approximately 2.25A. Might switch to 5A fuse.

2020-06-09 18-01-12.jpg
2020-06-09 18-01-41.jpg

Old Denso relay, which was supposed to be used inside box. Rusted and jammed.
