Sign boards for U-Turns are used only in cities! The gap in the median symbol is used only in highways i guess and we don need U-Turn signboards in highways!

The main use of the gap in median is to allow the other vehicles coming towards the main road to join in that main road and also caution the driver that a junction is coming ahead , the driver can either take an U-Turn there or if he is going straight then he has look forward to other vehicles coming and joining the main road!!

The other reason why is feel a gap in the median must be provided in cities for pedestrians to cross over , subways cannot be provided always! The reason i feel it is necessary in highways is if suppose a major accident has occurred in the highway line and blocking the entire route , the gap in the median can be used to divert the oncoming vehicles in the opposite direction to avoid delays in highways and huge traffic jams until the main line is cleared!!

Hope you get it now![:)]

Check out Bangalore Traffic website, becoming hightech.
Bangalore City Traffic Police

Also check how many times you have violated traffic rule and how much fine has been put on your name :-)

One more thing, if you SMS "RTO KA-XX-XX-XXXX" to 56006, you will receive a text message with all your vehicle details.

Thats cool , the traffic police are provided with Blackberry's too!! It even shows the parking space available in some Garuda mall and Apollo hospital! We can even pay the fine online!

But even TN has an Interceptor vehicle , a Scorpio fitted with a camera on the top to monitor the traffic violators in all directions in a major junction!

Traffic Rules

Traffic rules of the roads are both the laws and the informal rules that may have been developed over time to facilitate the orderly and timely flow of traffic. Almost all of the roadways traffic rules are built with devices meant to control traffic.

Safety Driving Tips that never change with the Season

Although is long gone, the traffic Police are still reminding drivers that roads are equally as busy, and it is important for motorists to not let their guards down as far as safety driving is concerned. Here are a few important tips to remember in all weather conditions:

* Never drink and drive: If you have been drinking heavily and your blood alcohol level registers above the legal limit, then you could lose your license for a few days.
* Obey the Speed Limit: Speed is one of the major causes for fatalities. Obeying the speed limits and slowing down can greatly reduce the chances of crashed and injuries from taking place.
* Keep those mobile phones aside: Many motorists repeatedly defy the law regarding the use of mobile phones will driving.
* Keep those Seat belts Buckled: All passengers and drivers should wear their seat belts in a securely fastened and properly adjusted manner.
* Slow down or move over: If you find yourself passing an emergency vehicle with its emergency lights on, then it is important to slow down and let the vehicle pass.

I have read about the second rule elsewhere and been following it too. It’s a really useful video. Thanks for posting, Zal.
