Why did the Kawasaki Ninja 250 fail to sell well in the markets?

Simple its price .

when we get almost same volume engine at almost 1/4th of the price.
@ ilango

Finally my belief is re-affirmed.

We Indians dont care about BHP.

All we care about is cc.

I have seen people not buy the R15 saying that it is only a 150 cc.
And when I get talking about the BHP, they fall silent.

Oh, and FYI
Ninja = 34 BHP
Pulsar 220 = 21 BHP

I think we get 30 kinda bhp in 1L royal enfield?

not sure.

And yeah you are correct many do not seem to see bhp , but we can increase some in stock bike - rather than increasing the volume at low rate!

Official top speed figures:
Ninja - 175 kmph, not 200 kmph
P220 - 145 kmph

0-60 kmph:
Ninja - 3.7 secs
P220 - 4.6 secs

Performance benefit is minor, price difference is huge. maybe thats the reason.

Yes +1 to Raj's statement. I prefer a ZMR , P220 or an R-15 instead of spending so much on Ninja!

But if you have that money and want the exclusivity Ninja is a great choice!

I would prefer a Karizma R(not ZMR) and an Alto instead of this.

But that is not the point.

The point is ih Kinetic Hyosung Comet sold well, why not Ninja?

To those of you who call Ninja 250 expensive, it sells for 2.5 lakh in the US.

And 3 Lakh for it here in India, despite the tax structure, is hats off to Bajaj.

Hey dudes, i have a Ninja 250, its a great bike, i have done upto 155kmph on the highways on out of city travel, the bike is rock steady, again its fuly faired and is liquid cooled, at the cost though its twice the price of 500cc bullet, its a pleasure to ride... I have rarely been overtaken even by cars, the few times it did happen was by bigger bikes... Its done decently too, there are quite a few bikes on the roads here in mumbai, i run into atleast one new face atleast once a week..
