More details have emerged on the Tata Nano based half tonne pickup truck that will hit the Indian market next year. Codename Penguin, the pickup will compete with players like the Mahindra Gio

It will be powered by 350cc one cylinder diesel engine. This is essentially half the cylinder block of the engine powering the Tata Ace, which itself uses a sliced Indica cylinder block.

The Nano pickup uses the same engineering techniques like single windshield wiper, 3 wheel lugs, scooped out dashboard and short wheelbase. The engine is also mounted at the rear axle, doing away with a propeller shaft. Source: Indian Autos Blog

It is the answer to the Gio Archie, not the Rio. Looks ugly like a penguin. Apt naming!

Yes, This one looks ugly'ish and seems like the front bumper is missing. Also, We can notice that small loading bay which a person buying truck of this segment wouldn't definetly prefer.

Its not looking as good as ACE, but we don't know the purpose.
If its based on Nano technology, the cost might be very low and can be used in villeges and small cities.

commercial usage small vehicles is good in demand, with three wheelers usually used, this types are more suitable for city as well as highways runs, can carry better load and better built as well.

Mahinda Gio looks 100,000 times better that this. What about the price difference between these?
Any idea?
