The next generation Winger is due sometime in late 2013 or early 2014. This MPV will continue in the line of the previous generation Winger by being based on the next generation Renault Traffic MPV. Tata’s main aim with the next-gen Winger is to target the likes of the upcoming MPV from Force Motors based on the Viano and the Nissan Evalia.

The next generation Winger based on the Renault Traffic is expected to retain the seating capacity of 9-14 adults. Like the current generation version, the new Winger could also be available with diesel power exclusively as the segment this MPV operates in scarcely opts for petrol engined variants. While the current generation Winger looks very dated when it comes to the looks it has been endowed with, the new model is anticipated to be a much more contemporary looking version, given that the latest version of the Renault Traffic has been completely redesigned.

Re: Tata to launch the nxt gen renault traffic to replace the winger mpv?

Tata winger is already a hit among tour operators and school buses etc.
In fact now a days its nearly impossible to find a Winger deluxe or Winger luxury for any tour as all of them have been booked for compete 4 months(April,May,June and July) and now with such a facelift,it looks like Tata needs nothing else except 50%+ market share..

Winger is a good product. This looks good as a replacement for winger.

Winger is very popular in Bangalore and especially in the taxi/cab market.Better option than Force traveller.

It is surely miles ahead of Force Traveller, but i don't see many in the travels sector that place is dominated mostly by innova

Come here buddy and you will find a lot of Wingers negotiating the hilly roads of Uttarakhand,Himanchal and J&K.All are full of tourists all the time.
In fact here you can get Wingers this way:-
15 people non-AC------About 14 Rs/km.
12 and 13 seater-AC.---About 15-16 Rs/Km.
10 seater recliner+AC.---About 16-17 Rs/Km.
7 seater recliner+AC.-----About 18-19 Rs/Km.

And amazingly all are booked for the whole season.Tourists just love going through them.In fact we too are in talk with a travel agency and if we find it profitable enough then we are also planning to get two Wingers one deluxe and one luxury and get them attached with the travel agency.

Why?Because Innova is available at Rs 11-12 per km and can carry only 7 in comfort(except driver) but Winger can carry 10-12 easily in full comfort with a lot of space too and hence people with groups of 10-12 go for the Winger only.
In fact here are some travel agencies who have installed LCDs too in winger and charge directly Rs 19-20 per km.

BTW,please don't jeer at me if I say that the front grille and bumper are slightly ARIAish...

Winger is a comfortable vehicle.

But in Southern part of the country still they don't consider anything other than Force Traveller. Winger is not so common in Western India too.

Oops!!!
Now you can expect people shouting that its a blown up and elongated Aria................. no Indica.

it's really nice to hear about winger's success in other parts of the country, i always believed that winger will make perfect tourist vehicle, hope they bring out the next gen with more improvements to the engine and gearbox, and also with a better interior's which in turn will make it a very attractive buy for big families.

^^That's where Tata designers are specialists.
They take many cars and prepare a 'KHICHDI' mixing the design cues from all of them..[lol]
They took the Aria grill and modified it(have a look at that crease just on the mid lower part of grille, its found only on Aria).
Took the bumper from Aria and tried to adjust it here.
Took headlights form Punto and lower half of headlights from Indica and did this..but at last..ITS NOT LOOKING BAD,ITS ACCEPTABLE.

About comfort, man once I sat in a stationary Winger platinum and I was like 'Wow,its comfy'.Only issue was that the plastics looked dirt cheap, but then who cars for it when its going to be used for carrying tourists?

Actually the fit and finish is really cheap.Even the A/C vents too look like they have been fitted using some jugaad.Rest everything is okay.
But still its a mini bus and hence you can never expect an Innova like ride in it.

BTW,Winger can reach the north of 130 kph too.I myself have seen once doing about 130 kph on NH 58.

I guess this is one of the biggest issue with tata car's today even though every generation of car's seems to be improving their commercial vehicle department seems to going the opposite way,
This is also the biggest reason for winger not clicking with the private buyer's.

@visran,

TATA dint sell the winger from their passenger vehicle department. It was sold through the commercial vehicles wing. AND they made no effort to sell it as a private vehicle at all.

I'd travelled in it once, and have to admit, its superb. Much better than any 'tempos' there is.

Wingers main competition is the Traveller. And the next model is likely to make inroads into the market share of the same.
