Presently Serious Discussion is going on in Ignis thread. Its deep. Half of my colleagues and patients are in favour of Suryaputhra. They say he is a very technical person. He is correct in pointing out the follies in DIY of Dr MUDHAN . Whatever he says ultimately comes out to be true.
Its as if they are talking about cricket stars.
Other half of them are saying, no no Dr MUDHAN is a very through and laborious person. He has proved himself in the Honda city thread. He is very dedicated and intelligent. He is correct. After all he single handedly upgraded the whole light setup of his car!!
Meanwhile I listen to these non-members and I do not know whom to support, so I admonish them like this "Why don't you become a member and then post whatever you want to say. Till then don't eat my head!! "

I am surprised to note this post. Suryaputhra is a respectable fellow forum member, I always admire his technical knowledge and we, with each other, used consult many things through INBOX conversations.
That post in my IGNIS thread is about upgrading a headlight and he was trying to help / clarify my doubts and ultimately I found the answer from other source that how this kind of sealed LED head lights are made. Nothing more than that.
I don’t understand what warranted to use words as ‘follies in DIY of Dr MUDHAN’ as it means ‘the state or quality of being foolish; lack of understanding or sense / creating ornamental things with no practical purpose’ in literature.
I assure, I am a person whole heartedly will accept any mistake if there is and never misguide anyone. it’s only an ownership experience thread, giving opportunities to explore more things and need not to be always accepted .
Regards
Dr MUDHAN

PS: Let us avoid further discussions over this issue, please.
I apologise if my post has hurt you sentiments. That was never my intention. I was merely stating their opinion (of my colleagues). It was not my opinion. Last line of my quote points out to that only, where I am asking them to become members instead of giving opinions. I have always liked and respected your work, as is obvious from my posts:
Very detailed job.
Very laborious job.
Very well done as well as well written job. Only few people can do like this.
The effort you are putting into your diy ,is praiseworthy. I like how you do things neatly and precisely. It reflects in your posts too. The results are very good.
[thumbsup] for your effort. Want more pictures. Will wait for your next post.

I am living (and enjoying) the Nexon life in 44degrees of Kanpur summers.

This is the view I am greeted to when I open my gallery

And this is the 1 foot tall can lying comfortably under the Nexon, waiting for the oil change.

Noted that there is still space to spare 'above' the oil can. Now I love the G.C of Nexon even more. Its a boon on crater filled roads and mammoth speed breakers.

Other members are selling off their Nexons. Feeling sad. Wished he had kept It longer.
Wished my Nexon had that companion for longer than just 4 years.( bought after mine, and sold before mine.)

Meanwhile I am still discovering new- new things on my Nexon. And these small touches are surprising and beautiful.
While changing wipers I found out Nexon has small, round, white marks on the windshield itself to ensure wipers don't lose their original positions while installing back. I haven't seen this thing in any of the cars I have owned. So far I used to mark the wipers with sketch pen or crayon or some such thing while removing. On installing back those marks were helpful to retain original wiper positions.
But these marks from the factory, well they're a huge relief. Perfect factory positions ensured on every reinstall of wipers. And I noticed them after 5 years of ownership. What can I say. Pleasant surprise is all I can think of.
Thank you Tata for these small touches.
And I do believe, Nexon is a keeper. Swift was not. Ritz was not too. But this one here, is different. And Tata has made it with love, proof of which can be found in every nook and cranny of the car, if looked for, with keen eyes.

In case I was not clear to fellow members, well, this is what I was talking about.
Please look in the below pics for small whit dots aligning perfectly with wiper marks. It covers both wipers.

DIY cleaning the cowl area of my Nexon:

A cowl is the panel that covers the gap between your car's hood and windshield.(source Wikipedia)
I noticed that the cowl area had become very dirty. This was never opened till now. This season's rains resulted in lots of debris and mut etc getting dumped from my house-porch on my Nexon. Most of it was getting washed off through the drain channels, but still lot of the dirt was getting trapped up in the cowl area. Opened it up today to peer inside.
Cowl opening is very tricky. Wiper disassembly is a major headache and without it you cannot remove anything .If the wipers do not come undone easily, they will remain stuck for eternity. If you apply undue force you run the risk of breaking plastic, cracking the edges, scratches on the windshield, bent wiper stalk etc etc.
So patience is required very much, and be prepared to abort everything, if DIY starts going south. Better a dirty car part than a broken and ruined car part because of our stupidity.

This is the wiper arm, fully covered in lots of mud.

Drainage channel is blocked by grime and dirt

Dust is so much that I had to literally lookout and feel for the drainage hole

That is the drain hole I was talking about. Its now visible after removing the mud

I haven't opened mine since past 3 years! God knows what is in store in my swift's cowl [shock]
Yes, but as I was not here, couldn't get the job done. Pretty tough job for you doc sir, anyways great job.
Don't worry. Whenever you get free time complete the cleaning process and then post pictures in your running thread.
I hope there will be no nasty surprises waiting for you, whenever you do this work.

DIY cowl cleaning contd.

These are " after cleaning " pictures.

Tata has done an amazing paint quality job on Nexon. No sign of rust anywhere after 5 years !!
only little rust was noticed at the shocker mounting bolts, and that too because it was unpainted, on un-primered iron.
The best thing I noticed was that even the interior of the cowl area is fully painted. Who does that in todays age in India. Nobody ! Wait ...my XUV is also painted like that only from inside.

Although this DIY was not very tough, but it definitely was labour intensive, meaning to say it took the better part of my day ,completing it by the evening.
Also this was a very satisfying DIY, watching all the mud and dust and leaves etc getting washed off and cleaned properly, making my Nexon's cowl area spic and span.
Thank you for staying with me till the end.

On such instances I usually spray on a bit of clear coat. Stops the rust from spreading & ruining stuff.
Link-
Clear coat
Thank you for your input. You might think I am kidding but the truth is, I was really not aware of such a solution.
So far I was applying rust converter tuffkote on these spots. Or all purpose grease, which is what I filled on the shocker-mount before closing the cap.
Next time will follow you advice.
p.s Already ordered this samurai thing, following your link. Thank you again.
