Tata Motors has offered returned money to Satish Sawant whose brand new Nano was turned into ashes with-in a few minutes and according to sources, this problem occurred due to a faulty switch placed near steering wheel, which Tata has now stopped sourcing from that vendor.

went through this article in TOI, really shocking to see brand new nano in flames, just imagine the shock that family would have been to see this happening to their dream car they finally owned, and not before taking her home its all burnt into ashes, TATA surely now needs to check its Quality offered by their vendors in nano, cause these incidents are happning quite a lot now. Also i read that it was just a minute before whole of the family got out of that car and it went into flames all around.SHOCKING.

Yet again a nano catches fire, Excerpt from Motorbeam:

"Tata Motors may be busy celebrating the Nano’s birthday but a brand new Tata Nano caught fire yet again. The incident took place near Boriyavi village on National Highway 8, when a fleet of eleven Nano cars was being driven to a dealer in Ahmadabad to be delivered in Vadodara. This is second such instance in recent days."

Another co-incidence is that both the nanos were being driven by Tata Employees themselves. Also, Read this:

Satish Sawant Seeks Rs.15 Lakhs Compensation from Tata Motors

Satish Sawant, the owner of the Nano LX which caught fire in Mumbai (read original post here) a couple of weeks back is seeking Rs. 15 lakh compensation from Tata Motors. The software professional has already received a full refund of Rs 2.25 lakh from Concorde Motors, which he used to settle his bank loan. However, Tata Motors has refused to budge leaving Satish no option but to move to consumer court. He is hell bent on receiving the funds for the shock and trauma suffered by his family and him caused by the fiery Tata Nano. (Courtesy: Motorbeam.com)

Tatas in firefighting mode on Nano; forms team for solution

Economictimes
Tata Motors has finally initiated some firefighting to drive Nano out of trouble before its image gets gutted after two new Nanos caught fire in less than a month.

The company has formed a core team of its best engineers and technicians to identify the root cause for the fire and find a solution by the end of this month, a company official close to the development said.

Company chairman Ratan Tata is personally monitoring the case and has told the officials to make the vehicle more robust and sturdy on the road besides resolving the defects that caused fire, said the person requesting anonymity.

When contacted, the Tata Motors spokesperson said, “The company is investigating into the incidents to pinpoint what may have led to those incidents.”
