Thanks for the Comments

Friends,

Thanks for your valuable comments, I had gone through ur comments and found that many of you go with constant speed as a method for achieving it and few thinks driving in neutral..

Let me Tell you that Engine rpm is one of the main things which you should tried to maintain constant ( b/w 1300- 1600 rpm), this is possible at different speed based on the gear you shift.

Avoid ideal speed or neutral, because at low rpm the Fuel consumption is more.. 46 .32 is not a big mileage and i have achieved more than that in Toyota corolla Altis recently.

In, most of the sites i have seen common questions raised by the viewers, henceforth today i am choosing few repeated questions and delivering my answer to best of my knowledge.

Q1. Is it because of your car?, or your driving technique or any other innovation you adopted???

A: Its a team work of car, driver, fuel, road and public , without this one can't achieve good fuel economy in normal roads( my test was conducted i a normal road, not on any special tracks mind you)

Q2. Why Tata hasn't promoted this or not taken any initiative to promote this?. wasn't they aware?. what was their response.

A: Tata knows the matter well, even planned for a Press meet at initial stages, then called off. They have gifted me an alloy wheel through the dealers and also told me that they will promote it after the limca certification (can't understand why to wait so long). about their initiative and customer commitments i cant answer, it varies from people to people and organization to organization. but i am sure that they are enjoying the best selling opportunities by exposing my news to the new customers ;). Safe ploy :D

Q3: What is the secret behind this fuel efficiency

A: Even i am working out for it, i know if i say it out the R& D team will go behind it and achieve it and finally i will be trashed, BUT I AM LEAST BOTHERED,

rpmvsfc.jpg

At a certain rpm any vehicle could deliver maximum efficiency.
I know at that at one particular reading of rpm i am getting this magical figures, not only in Manza, but also in other cars.My dream now is to work it in technical approach to make it available for all cars with flexibility. for the moment i cant reveal the rpm as i am working out in different parameters to study it and transform the information to public. I would certainly love to drive a 6 geared Toyota corolla altis now expecting it should touch 50 kmpl with ease( need to prove practically tough).

Expecting your Aggressive Reply [:)]

mr. narayanan i agree with you and the graph .. as the momentum of vehicle itself helps the engine a lot if the rpm/torque is considered while driving .that kind of efficient drive is not a cup of tea for everyday commuters.
but again the title"An Owner Achieves 46 KPL in Indigo Manza" made me believe that is what you enjoy dialy.

i can agree your points , but is that really achivable practically , i mean in daily usage ,or only in FE run?

I did a FE test in ikon 1.6 petrol
no ac , 50% 4 lane road , 50% bad road . i did not cross 60kmph , rpm was less than or near 2000
My FE was 22kmpl , where the same car returns a FE of 14kmpl without ac in normal driving style.
i took about 11hrs to complete a 7 hr journey ...ouch my knee pains!

even i have to agree on your point regarding rpm . even my safari gives 12(with AC) if i maintain good rpm that is (1000-1800) but that is with only till 4th gear as it require 80kmph speed for 5th gear which is not possible here in delhi roads .

still great to know that we can bring FE that much high .

I believe it all depends on the driving style. Text book driving style will always get you better mileage. I believe this should be a record of sorts for a car in India!

Narayan, Thanks for posting a well-composed explanation and answer to some certain queries. Hope you achieve success in your next project with the Toyota Altis too. Well, It is true that extracting most of the mileage from the car is actually teamwork, but I would like to add that apart from the accurate driving technique, road surface etc. a few basic things such as rolled-up windows (To enhance dynamics) counts in as well, to a significant extent. Of course there are many more, and it will be good to have a list of them together.

Awesome Narayan !!! Hope the skill or learning you put through to achieve this could be used in city utility cars in some AT tranny to increase FE in future. Nice start [clap]

Tata Manza clocks an incredible mileage of 46.33kmpl

Aura ABS) has clocked an incredible mileage of 46.33 km per litre. This feat has been achieved by Narayanan Menon, a resident of Coimbatore who has zoomed into the Limca Book of Records.

Narayanan R Menon, Managing Director of Aromen Engineering Company and a proud owner of the Tata Manza has been certified for the remarkable drive on the Coimbatore- Avinashi by-pass on 25th of May 2011. Menon’s Tata Manza covered a long stretch of 72.3 kilometer on road by consuming only 1.58 liters of diesel, which translates to an incredible mileage of 46.33 km per litre. A mechanical engineer, Menon himself does not credit an amazing mileage to a ‘magic foot’ rather a combination of good driving and car maintenance. For a country where fuel efficiency is a significant factor for automobile ownership and with fuel prices increasing, the feat certainly bodes well for the mileage conscious customer.
